Practical approaches to managing change

Introducing and leading change isn’t an easy task. But there are theories and techniques which can help with managing change. Skills for Care has written an article about some practical approaches you could try.

Training

Recorded webinar: ‘medicines from the regulatory perspective’

This Skills for Care recorded webinar, held in partnership with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), took place in January and explored the regulations and best practice around managing medicines in care homes and domiciliary settings.

It focused on 'when required' (PRN) medicines, controlled drugs and patches including rotation are used.

Skills for Care has put together a question and answer document which answers questions raised in the webinar and provides information and links to other resources and support available.

Meeting Care Quality Commission expectations

A range of practical guidance has been developed by Skills for Care to help you meet or exceed Care Quality Commission (CQC) expectations and achieve a Good or Outstanding rating.

Good and Outstanding care includes free online guides, checklists, action plans, and learning modules.

Health and care

East Sussex LGBTQ+ needs assessment

Our joint strategic needs assessment (JSNA) for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer and other sexual and gender identity minorities (LGBTQ+) in East Sussex has been published.

To make sure the JSNA reflects the views of our LGBTQ+ communities we worked with a range of health, care, and voluntary sector partners and ran a survey to understand LGBTQ+ local people’s experiences of health, accessing local services and about how COVID-19 has impacted them.

The JSNA makes a wide range of recommendations, including:

  • increasing inclusion and awareness of LGBTQ+ people and their needs in health and care services
  • more engagement with LGBTQ+ communities, to enable knowledge and uptake of services
  • collecting further insight on how these communities experience services
  • specific recommendations on Trans healthcare
  • increasing the monitoring and data collection of LGBTQ+ people in services.

Tell Healthwatch about NHS 111

Healthwatch East Sussex, the local independent health and care watchdog, is running a survey to capture East Sussex residents’ experiences of using NHS 111 services over the last 12 months

Healthwatch is particularly keen to hear:

  • if the service met your needs
  • what was good
  • what could be improved

They will share the findings with decision-makers, commissioners and service providers to help inform delivery of health and care services in East Sussex.

Take part online, or ring 0333 101 4007 (lines open Monday to Friday 10:00am to 2:00pm). There are also paper versions.

The survey closes on 15 May.
