Do you know anyone who will find it difficult to keep warm, get enough food or pay essential bills this winter?
They may be able to get extra help from the Household Support Fund which has almost £4 million to help East Sussex residents who are most in need.
Anyone can apply if they are struggling with the costs of food, of heating and lighting or of water bills. They must be 18 or older and receive a means-tested benefit.
To apply, please contact your borough or district council:
There's more information about the fund, and other forms of support and advice, on the East Sussex County Council site.

With the festive season rapidly approaching it’s time to get prepared for a Covid-free Christmas.
Covid-19 rates are increasing across East Sussex and England is taking a few extra precautions while a new variant of the virus, Omicron, is assessed. There are simple things that you can do to try and ensure you don’t have Covid as the unwanted guest at your door this year.
Simply follow this checklist (and check it twice) to protect yourself, your loved ones and to enjoy a Covid-free Christmas.
- Wear a mask in crowded public areas. From Tuesday (Nov 30) we must by law wear a mask in shops and on public transport.
- Regularly test with a Lateral Flow test, especially when mixing with other households.
- If you think you have Covid-19 symptoms, isolate and take a PCR test.
- Get your Covid-19 vaccines.
There's more information in the latest weekly Covid-19 update from our Director of Public Health, Darrell Gale.
Would you make a good foster carer or supported lodgings provider?
There's every chance you would. You can be from any background, race or religion, you can be any age from 21 upward, you can be heterosexual or gay and you can be single, married or living with someone. There's no 'typical'.
All you do definitely need is a real interest in helping children through a difficult time in their lives, a spare room, some experience of caring for children and the patience, energy and enthusiasm to help them.
We give our foster carers and supported lodgings providers 24-hour support, training, and a dedicated social worker (We also provide an allowance and a fee although the real reward comes from helping young people transform their life).
So whether or not you think you're 'typical', we'd love to tell you a bit more.
