Free baby books available at libraries
Families with children under 12 months are being encouraged to collect free baby books from their local library. Bookstart baby packs are usually gifted to new parents by their health visitor at the six-week post birth check-up but the pandemic has meant that some health checks have been carried out remotely and, as a result, parents may not have received their pack. Solar scheme to encourage clean energy switch
Homeowners in East Sussex are being invited to register for a solar panel scheme which could save them money and help cut their carbon emissions. Solar Together Sussex, a group buying scheme supported by Sussex councils, including East Sussex County Council, will allow residents to buy high-quality solar panels and battery storage at a competitive price. Events continue to celebrate the role of older people
A series of events celebrating the role of older people in our communities is continuing into October. Following the easing of Covid-19 restrictions, the 14th annual Older People’s Day programme – which coincides with the UN International Day of Older Persons on October 1, provides a mix of free and paid-for, in-person activities and virtual events open to the 50-plus age group.
