Volunteering Week

Volunteer Week

Volunteers are a valued and central part of East Sussex Libraries. Volunteering allows you to meet new people, learn new skills and give something back to your community.  This volunteering week we wanted to take the time to tell you a little about the roles we have on offer; and to give the volunteers themselves a chance to reflect on what volunteering for the library means to them.

"I'm so happy that I can give back to my community that helped me when I needed it"

"It's not understating things to say volunteering for the Library has been a life changing experience"

A book I have loved

Midnights Children

"What's real and what's true aren't necessarily the same" Salman Rushdie's Magical Realism classic won the Booker Award, the Booker of Booker Award and the Best of Booker Award.

Now that is a lot of Bookers!

Midnight’s Children is both comedy and tragedy, blending the real with the surreal as an enthralling family saga unwinds against the backdrop of a postcolonial India. A stunning story, rich with vibrant images and delightful characters.
