Vaccinations update

  • This weekend more than 10,000 people in Sussex were vaccinated by the teams working Saturday and Sunday in the three vaccination centres, local vaccination services, home visiting teams,  pharmacy led services, and hospital hubs.
  • More than 350,000 people in Sussex have now received the vaccination
  • 96,189 (86%) people over the age of 80 in Sussex have received their first dose. This is the fifth highest total in England and all the more impressive in the context that Sussex has one of the highest over 80s populations in the country.
  • 78% of the 75-79 population and 23% of those aged 70-74 have received the vaccine (4 Feb).
  • More than 100,000 people under the age of 70 have been vaccinated, predominantly eligible health and social care workers.

The NHS in Sussex remains on track to have offered the vaccine to everyone in the first four priority groups by mid-February, in line with the national target.

Over 70? Now you can book a vaccine

People aged 70 and over in England are being urged to arrange to have a Covid-19 vaccine if they have not already been inoculated.

Until now the NHS has asked people not to contact them and to wait to be invited to come for their first dose of the vaccine.

But now it is advising anyone aged 70 or over who has not yet had their first shot to get in touch to arrange to have it to help maximise the total number of people vaccinated. There are said to be 750,000 people in that age group in England who have yet to have a first vaccination.

Residents can book their appointments using Book a vaccination appointment or by calling 119.
