A reminder that face coverings must be worn in supermarkets and shops from Friday (July 24).
The wearing of coverings has been mandatory on public transport for some time, but from Friday shoppers must also cover their mouths and noses.
There are some exemptions to this rule, however, and they include young children under the age of 11 and people who can not put on, wear or remove a face covering because of a physical or mental illness or impairment, or disabilities.

You may have seen press reports of two positive cases associated with a bar in Eastbourne; notified by the national Test and Trace service. Our Public Health team is working with Eastbourne and Lewes Council’s Environmental Health Service, and Public Health England to establish if there are links between the cases, so that any necessary actions can be put in place.
The Local Government Association has welcomed legislation giving new powers for local authorities to be able to close specific premises, cancel events and close public spaces in response to local outbreaks.
The LGA has consistently promoted the importance of locally-led responses, which it says have proven to be the best way to tackle significant outbreaks.
It says these new powers will be critical to saving lives by allowing councils to react immediately. Previously, undertaking a similar process to shut down premises in response to public health concerns required going to a magistrates’ court which could have taken a number of days to agree and enforce.
East Sussex continues to see a comparatively low number of cases of Covid-19. The latest figures show a cumulative rate of 285 cases per 100,000 of population
