Share your views as a carer on residential and nursing home services for older people

Are you receiving a good service as a carer from the residential or nursing home where your family member or friend lives? For example, are they keeping you informed, involving you as much you want, and making visits a pleasant experience?

East Sussex County Council is keen to hear from anyone whose family member or friend is an older person (someone aged over 64) who is resident in an East Sussex care home, either permanently or for short-term visits.

Take part in the survey before it closes on 31 January 2020

Tell ESHT what you think about outpatient appointments

East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (ESHT) is inviting local people to an event in Bexhill where you can give your feedback on the work of the Trust.

This public forum will focus on the progress ESHT are making to transform outpatients’ appointments, give people more information about their health and better support people when they leave hospital after an inpatient stay.

Visit the website for the event details and how to book.

Video consultations with GPs launch

Patients in the Eastbourne, Hailsham, Seaford and Bexhill areas are now able to book video consultations with a GP seven days a week via the LIVI app on their mobile phone or tablet.

Appointments are available from 4pm to 8pm from Monday to Friday and from 8am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.

The doctors that you can see through LIVI are all General Medical Council certified General Practitioners who work part-time with LIVI and part-time with their local physical GP surgeries in England.

Young Carers Awareness Day

Young Carers Awareness Day is taking place on 30th January 2020. The day gives a voice to young carers and highlights the challenges and issues they face.

A young carer is someone under 18 years of age who helps look after someone in their family, or a friend, who is ill, disabled or misuses drugs and/or alcohol.

There are over 3,000 young carers in East Sussex, and there is support available. Find out about services that can help.

Shared lives

Do you fancy kicking off the New Year with a rewarding role, helping people with support needs live life to the full?

If you’re a kind and caring person, you could be part of East Sussex County Council’s Shared Lives service, a service that offers accommodation, support and the opportunity to make a real difference.

Read our article for more information on what it involves, and how to get in touch.

Home check service could help you stay warm and well

Could your home be making you ill? Even in mild weather, a cold house or flat can cause health problems, and the risk increases as the temperature plummets.

Living in a damp or poorly-heated home wears you down, affects your mood, energy and wellbeing and puts your health in jeopardy, particularly if you’re at risk of breathing or heart complications, strokes or trips and falls.

However, help could be at hand in the form of the Warm Home Check service, offered to people in East Sussex on low incomes who have a disability or long-term health condition or are in receipt of certain benefits.
