Let's celebrate older people

To coincide with Older People’s Day on 1 October, we will be celebrating the contribution older people make to our community.

There is a packed programme of events taking place across the county throughout September and October that everyone is invited to.

Events range from cake and crafts, days out, film screenings, walking football, health walks and lots more. There is something for everyone!

Help your children prepare for school

The new school year is just around the corner!

Whether your children are returning to school or starting school for the first time, there are things you can do to help smooth the transition. 

We’ve spoken to primary school teachers from Pashley Down Infant School in Eastbourne to get their top tips for getting children ready for school.

Meet our tobacco sniffer dogs in Eastbourne and Hailsham. The dogs will be showing off their skills at public roadshow events hosted by East Sussex Trading Standards. 

GCSE grades this year were up on 2018 results, a massive achievement for East Sussex students. There was a particularly strong performance in English and Maths.

A new garden created for a respite service is now being enjoyed by residents and visitors. The garden at Grangemead Respite Service, in Hailsham was created using recycled or locally-sourced material. 

Roads across East Sussex have received a summer makeover. The works will help to extend their life and help stop potholes forming.
