How to research your family tree

An old identity card

With ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ notching up its 15th series this year, it’s clear we can’t get enough of genealogy.

But researching your own family tree without a team of TV researchers can be a bit daunting. It’s more a case of Where Do You Start? But did you know that there are lots of local resources that can help?

Get started on your family tree with this handy guide:

Could you be a school governor?

School governor

We’re looking for people across East Sussex with an interest in education to become a school governor.

School governors help improve the education of young people in their local community, and at the same time benefit from working alongside a team of professionals.

You don’t have to be a parent, no formal qualifications are needed, and support and training is provided. We spoke to Alison, a school governor in Lewes, about what's involved: "I'm a school governor".

If you'd like to apply, you'll need to show how the project will be supporting local economic growth and boosting physical activity.

Applications must be submitted by 1 May 2018. For more information please see the full article in our newsroom.
