Update from East Riding of Yorkshire Council Leader, Councillor Anne Handley
Welcome to our weekly residents’ news and updates. This week we have some major projects coming to fruition, with Jock’s Lodge fully opening this weekend along with Weel Bridge re-opening and the Beverley Household Waste Recycling Site. Thank you to everyone for your patience while we complete these projects.
I am delighted that the Old School House, Beverley, a council-run care home has been judged to be ‘outstanding’ across all five inspection areas.
And finally we have an update on another major project, the refurbishment of East Riding Leisure Goole which is making fantastic progress and is due to open by the end of the year, you can watch the video and see how it is all coming together as a venue for sport and entertainment.

A164/Jock's Lodge to reopen
 Traffic restrictions will be removed from the A164 overnight on Thursday 24 September and overnight on Friday 25 September, including the new Bentley Bridge. The full scheme will be open by Saturday 26 September.

Weel Bridge on track for reopening
 Work to reinstall Weel bridge is on schedule and is due to open by the weekend. The Weel Household Waste Recycling Site is also due to open by the weekend.

Care home rated 'Outstanding' by Care Quality Commission
 The Old School House care home in Beverley has been awarded the highest possible rating of 'Outstanding' across all five areas by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

East Riding Leisure Goole redevelopment enters final stages
 The East Riding Leisure Goole redevelopment project is entering its last stage as building works are being finalised. The leisure centre is still on track to open in late 2026 with progress being made on both the indoor and outdoor facilities.
