Dear Town and parish councillors,
Please note that the “Reminder: Gifts and Hospitality” article included in the recent town and Parish councilors' bulletin was published in error.
The information relates specifically to East Riding of Yorkshire Council members and the requirements of the ERYC Members’ Code of Conduct. It does not apply to town and parish councillors.
We apologise for any confusion this may have caused.
Town and parish councillors should continue to follow their own Town or Parish Councils adopted Code of Conduct.
Please see the corrected version of the July town and parish councillor's bulletin.

 Download the BetterPoints app
A free app called BetterPoints has been commissioned by the council to reward residents for leaving their cars at home and instead travelling more sustainably by walking, cycling, or taking the bus or train.
Anyone who lives, works or studies in the East Riding can download the app and start earning points.
People can earn points every time they walk, cycle or take public transport locally. The points can then be exchanged for vouchers at a range of retailers, including Costa, Tesco and Amazon, or donated to charity.
The aim is to encourage people to become more active and choose healthier ways to travel, such as walking or cycling.

Last chance to take part in our communication survey
The town and parish council communication survey builds on work undertaken following the 2018 review of communications with town and parish councils, the introduction of the Town and Parish Council Charter, and the most recent survey carried out in 2024. Its purpose is to assess progress since 2024, identify any remaining areas for improvement and gather feedback to help inform a refreshed version of the Charter.
Your views are important in helping us understand how the council communicates and engages with town and parish councils, including services such as Parish Open Door, the Streetscene Hub, council bulletins and other channels.
Please submit your response by Friday, 31 July 2026.
If you require further information or an alternative, accessible format, please email Parish Open Door.

We are conducting a review of polling districts and polling places in accordance with the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013. The aim of the review is to ensure the current polling districts and stations are appropriate for the areas that they cover, that all electors have reasonable and practicable facilities for voting and that, as far as is reasonable and practicable, polling places are accessible to all electors, including those who are disabled.

Views sought on our Children's Centres and Family Hubs
We would like to hear from residents about Children’s Centres and Family Hubs and the support they provide. The consultation has launched to understand which centres families are using, the support and activities they use and where improvements to the offer can be made. The consultation also asks about a proposal to use community venues, such as schools and church halls, to deliver some of the services.

Slight delay to Weel bridge improvements
The project has been delayed by around four weeks; due to engineers discovering crucial new issues within the aluminium structure, which have been caused by corrosion over the years.
Extra repairs and safety checks are now needed, delaying the project by around four weeks. The bridge is now due to return and reopen to the public in August, rather than in July as originally scheduled.
