Summer edition of Your East Riding out now
 The summer edition of Your East Riding is out now. 'Your East Riding' is a quarterly magazine delivered to all households across the East Riding. Each edition includes articles about the services the council provides. This issue includes the Youth Justice Service receives 'Outstanding' judgement, celebrating 30 years of the council, Goole 200 celebrations and what's on across the region this summer.
Earn vouchers or help charities as you walk or ride
 An app called BetterPoints rewards you for leaving your car at home and instead travel more sustainably by walking, cycling, or taking the bus or train. You can earn points every time you walk, cycle or take public transport locally. Collect them and redeem them for vouchers to spend at local businesses, high street shops and internet stores including Costa, Tesco and Amazon.
Pickleball to Pink Carpet: celebrating Foster Care Fortnight
 Throughout the fortnight foster carers took part in free events for themselves and the children they care for. The fortnight began with one-to-one Pickleball coaching, where a range of families enjoyed taking part - from experienced foster carers to new foster carers, with foster children and birth children.An afternoon tea event celebrated East Riding’s foster families and the difference they make to the lives of children and young people.
The fortnight concluded with a pink-carpet cinema event at Parkway Cinema, where 78 foster carers got together for a private film screening, along with snacks, drinks and sharing experiences.
Top national awards for East Riding project cutting carbon in street lighting
 An project designed to cut carbon in street lighting on roads has scooped two national awards at a prestigious event. Karl Rourke, who spearheads the scheme, was honoured with the President’s Special Recognition Award at the 2026 ADEPT (Association of Directors of Environment, Economy, Planning & Transport) President’s Awards. The project was also presented with the award for Deploying Digital Innovation and Technologies 2026 at the event.
New funding available for youth initiatives in the East Riding
 Applications are open for for the Our Place – Youth Fund, designed to support community groups, charities, and youth projects throughout the East Riding. It serves as part of the Do it for East Yorkshire Community Grant (DIFEY), funded by East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
A total of £100,000 is available for initiatives aimed at benefiting young people in the area, with applications open until noon on Monday 13 July.
Shape up for Summer with East Riding Leisure
 East Riding Leisure’s popular ‘Shape up for Summer’ membership is back for a limited time only and offers great savings for those looking to get active this summer.
Shape up for Summer is available from Monday 1 to Tuesday 30 June and includes three months’ premier or crew membership for £75 with no tie-ins or direct debit sign-ups, saving more than £30 on a premier membership.
