In this edition of the ERSCP newsletter, we share a number of updates, including our attendance at recent events; young carers' resources; and the latest news from the Child Accident Prevention Trust.

The team has been busy in recent months with a number of events, including a youth work roadshow, a partnership planning day, and a youth conference. We love getting out and speaking with our partners, and children, young people and families.

Family Hubs are to replace Children’s Centres in providing families with advice and support from pregnancy to childcare, through to starting school and beyond.
The Hubs will deliver joined-up services across health, family services, education, childcare, schools and the voluntary and community sector. They will help families to receive faster, earlier support, focusing on early intervention.
The new offer was marked in May by the opening of the Bridlington, Shaftesbury Road site.

Throughout the last year, we have been strengthening a comprehensive child sexual abuse (CSA) policy, guidance and learning offer to support professionals in identifying and responding to child sexual abuse.
This includes a multi‑agency CSA Policy and Practice Guidance Toolkit, practical resources, and training to build confidence and consistency in frontline practice.

The Child Safeguarding Practice Review Panel (CSPRP) website is a national learning hub that brings together insights from serious child safeguarding reviews.
We were pleased to be represented by colleague Chelsee Blundell at the national expert reference group, helping to shape the website's design and purpose. Chelsee also delivered a presentation as part of the national launch.

If someone you know is aged 17 or younger and regularly helps to look after a parent or guardian, they might be what is known as a young carer. We can help support young carers to manage both their caring responsibilities and to look after their own everyday needs.
If you know or work with a young person who might be young carer, they can access support by calling (01482) 565560, emailing the family help young carers team, or visiting our website.

The Crooks Project focuses on preventing financial exploitation in education via safeguarding provision, increased awareness, earlier interventions, and better protection for those at risk.
It provides useful support professionals and practitioners.

Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT) have partnered with AXA Insurance to share the safer driving Backseat Boss initiative with children.
It teaches children how to be a safe passenger, and a safe future driver, using the BOSS acronym.
Settings interested in teaching the Backseat Boss safety measures to their primary school-aged children should sign up for the free resources.

Skips Safety Net has a poster of resources for parents and carers to use to keep their children safe online.
Online safety is a valuable skill that should be shared with children and young people. Please share the poster with parents and carers.

Child Safety Week runs from Monday, 1 to Sunday, 7 June, and this year's theme is 'Making Prevention Possible', aiming to encourage families to apply simple safety changes around the home without feeling overwhelmed.

The Protect Your Melon campaign from Headway encourages cyclists to stay safe and wear a helmet while cycling and keeping fit and active.
Wearing a helmet can help to avoid life-changing brain injuries in the event of a collision when on a bicycle or scooter.
