Blue Flags and Seaside Awards for five East Riding beaches
 Hornsea and Withernsea have both been awarded Blue Flag status in the internationally recognised scheme, announced on Friday, 15 May by leading environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy. Bridlington South, Bridlington North and Wilsthorpe have also been honoured with Seaside Awards in the annual programme recognising the UK’s best beaches. The awards honour the UK beaches which meet high standards in quality, cleanliness, safety, and the range of facilities they have for the public.
Programme of events shared for Safeguarding Week 2026
 The Safeguarding Week programme of events will take place between Monday, 15 to Friday, 19 June. Sessions will be free to attend and delivered virtually or in person at varying times throughout the day. The programme has been developed for both professional and public audiences covering a wide variety of safeguarding themes looking at both adult and child safeguarding.
Meet East Riding’s fostering recruitment team
 Foster Care Fortnight runs from 11 to 24 May and encourages people to consider fostering. Anyone who begins their fostering journey will meet with a member of East Riding’s fostering recruitment team. Jo, Charlotte, Lindsey, Kim, Nicky, Marie, Jenny, Jennifer and Bex all work to help people have the best experience along their fostering journey.The team attend events and local venues to talk to people about fostering, and they can often be seen out and about in the pink East Riding Fostering t-shirts.

Half-term at Sewerby Hall and Gardens
 The Spring Spectacular offers a range of family-friendly events, and you can book online to receive a discount on entry. There is a packed schedule of activities and entertainment, including interactive adventures with Rusticus, animal encounters, zoo craft activities, magic shows and more. All activities, excluding face painting, are included in standard admission charges.
East Riding Leisure half-term fun
 Each leisure centre will be running half-term holiday activities including Swimming, aqua fun, inflatables, soft play, sports hall activities, junior gym, Clip 'n Climb and more. Activities vary across the leisure centres.
Celebrate ten years of East Riding Leisure Bridlington
 East Riding Leisure Bridlington is celebrating ten years after opening following a multi-million pound redevelopment in 2016. To mark the milestone, the centre will be hosting a free open day on Saturday, 23 May, offering a range of activities including swimming, Clip ‘n Climb, soft play and much more. There will also be on-the-spot prizes to be found throughout the day, including free junior swim passes, family swim passes and a three-month Shape Up for Summer membership. Further prizes will also be up for grabs on social media.
