 Foster Care Fortnight runs from 11 to 24 May and this year’s theme is This is Fostering. This is Fostering - here in the East Riding, aims to shine a light on the everyday experiences of fostering; the real moments and everyday interactions that help children feel safe, supported, and able to thrive.
New cycle repair stations installed at East Riding Leisure centres
 New cycle repair stations have been installed at a number of East Riding Leisure centres to help bike riders get back on the road.
The free-to-use repair stations, containing essential tools and bike pumps, are now available at East Riding Leisure sites in Bridlington, Beverley, Driffield, Haltemprice, Withernsea and Hornsea.
Young Live Well: Living Well with Asthma

We have launched a new healthy lifestyles programme for young people aged 10 to 18 years old with asthma who may be less active or feel that their asthma is a barrier to exercise.
The free 12-week programme will initially run from East Riding Leisure Hornsea and Goole, with another group due to start in September 2026 at East Riding Leisure Bridlington.
Do It for East Yorkshire fund to provide support for local community groups
 Voluntary and community groups across the East Riding are invited to apply for funding as the Do It for East Yorkshire (DIFEY) Community Fund reopens for applications this spring.
The fund will invest £200,000 in new and pilot community-led activity that strengthens local communities and delivers meaningful social impact.
Grants from £1,500 to £5,000 are available to voluntary and community organisations, across the East Riding, as well as for charities and town and parish councils.
Family Hubs launch to give children the Best Start in Life

Family Hubs are replacing Children’s Centres, bringing together advice and support for families from pregnancy and early years, through childcare, starting school and beyond.
By joining up health, family services, education, childcare, schools, and the voluntary and community sector, Family Hubs will help families access support earlier and more quickly – with a strong focus on early intervention.
Striking murals painted in Bridlington as part of £125,000 scheme
 Two colourful, eye-catching murals have been painted on the side of buildings in Bridlington as part of a £125,000 regeneration project.
The council commissioned the huge murals, depicting aspects of the town’s history and local wildlife, as well as making improvements to the nearby Westgate Park in the Old Town and to Harbour Road to encourage more visits.
