Beverley bridge lifted from River Hull in major engineering operation
 A 20-tonne metal bridge in Beverley has been successfully lifted from the River Hull in the first phase of a £1m refurbishment project.
In a major engineering operation, the 70-year-old Weel Bridge was removed clear of its bearings from the river banks at the end of Grovehill Road,using a 250-tonne crane on Saturday (18 April).
Youth Brass Band launches in East Riding
 East Riding Music Service, in partnership with East Riding of Yorkshire Brass Band, is launching a Youth Brass Band.
Young brass musicians of all abilities, from Year three upwards, are invited to join to play a range of brass instruments together.
This follows a successful Brass Blast Day at the Hexagon Music Centre, which saw brass players join together to make music. Twenty-five children, from beginners to advanced, joined 20 members of the East Yorkshire Brass Band.
Local enviromental projects celebrated to mark 'Earth Day'
 We are marking Earth Day 2026 by highlighting the renewable energy projects in our region that are benefitting local communities, and helping to reduce carbon emissions.
Residents are also playing their part to support the environment, with East Riding among the best recycling areas in the whole country, winning national awards for its recycling rates and schemes.
Launch of £3.5m road improvement programme to help protect against potholes
 Road improvements worth £3.5m are due to be carried out across the East Riding this spring and summer to help protect against potholes and other damage.
We are investing the money in our annual road surface dressing programme, which began on Wednesday 22 April and is expected to take 16 weeks to complete.
Community support scheme recognised in enterprise awards
 An East Yorkshire-based project has won the Social and Community Impact Award, given by the National Enterprise Network.
The Freedom Providers project helps individuals become micro-businesses and is funded by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund from the UK Government.
