East Riding of Yorkshire Council marks 30 years
 This week marks the 30th anniversary of East Riding of Yorkshire Council. The council, which was formed on April 1, 1996 as part of a national programme of local government reorganisation, followed the abolition of Humberside County Council.
Over the years the council has invested millions of pounds to reshape infrastructure to support residents, communities and businesses.
Bridlington and South East Holderness residents encouraged to get involved in £20 million regeneration efforts
 Announced in September 2025, the Pride in Place Programme will provide up to £19.6 million each for two areas in the East Riding of Yorkshire - Bridlington West and Withernsea East & Patrington.
Residents from Bridlington and South East Holderness are encouraged to take part in an online engagement, helping to identify the priorities and opportunities that matter most to their communities.
New free car park to open in Driffield
 A new free council car park is due to open in Exchange Street, Driffield on Wednesday, 8 April. As part of a land exchange, the site will replace the existing free car park at Eastgate, which will close and the land will be developed into a new Aldi supermarket, including parking for customers.
The new Exchange Street car park will provide 100 parking bays, including spaces for motorcycles, disabled parking and electric vehicles.

Bridlington Kite Festival to return next month
Bridlington Kite Festival is to return to the town for its 11th year, over the weekend of Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 May.
The festival, suitable for all the family, has grown to become one of the most popular spring events on the East Coast.
It will be held from 10am to 5pm, on Sewerby Cliff Top, featuring kites of all shapes, sizes and colours flying over Bridlington bay.
Admission to the event is free and dogs on leads are welcome.

Half term continues
 The Easter holidays are in full swing, and there's still a host of free, fun, creative activities for children and young people receiving benefits-related free school meals or council tax support can access the activities for free.
All HAF activities are available to other families on a paid-for basis, and this will vary by activity and provider.
Activities are inclusive, with some SEND specific sessions available.
