East Riding’s Youth Justice Service rated outstanding
 HM Inspectorate of Probation has recognised the exceptional work of East Riding’s Youth Justice Service following its recent inspection of the service’s work with children and victims across the East Riding of Yorkshire.
East Riding Leisure awarded The Active Standard Certification
 East Riding Leisure has achieved The Active Standard, a nationally recognised certification demonstrating that its centres meet high levels of safety, inclusivity and service quality. Achieving the certification means East Riding Leisure has been independently assessed on its health and safety procedures, professional standards, safeguarding policies and data protection processes. The assessment was carried out by Right Directions, an external third‑party organisation, and will last for three years before re-assessment.
The Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) for Hull and East Riding launched
 The strategy was launched at a conference held at Hull Guildhall on Friday 6 March. The purpose of the strategy is to inform land managers on how nature recovery can be a viable alternative to other land uses. It will create improved opportunities to finance nature recovery, through funding streams such as Biodiversity Net Gain.
Celebrating youth work powering opportunities for children and young people
 Partners from across the East Riding have joined to celebrate youth work taking place to support children and young people.
The Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise Sector (VCFSE) Youth Conference involved over 150 people from the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sector, youth representatives, East Riding Council and regional and national representatives. The event recognised and celebrated the work of the VCFSE sectors and the difference they make in children and young people’s lives.

Easter activities at East Riding Leisure
Join East Riding Leisure for activites to keep the kids entertained this Easter. There will be crash course swimming lessons, soft play, inflatables, sports camps, sports hall activies, and more.
Two hours of free swimming per week is also available for 3 to 16 year-olds who live in the East Riding.
Activities vary across each East Riding Leisure centres.

Easter fun at Sewerby Hall and Gardens
From Monday 30 March to Sunday 12 April, you can enjoy a mix of live entertainment, workshops, and interactive experiences in the setting of the historic Sewerby estate. Don't miss the chance to meet the animals at Sewerby Zoo where you can make fruit kebabs for the animals and meet the hoof stock. There’s also plenty of creative fun on offer too, including face painting, magic shows and wildcats natural art workshops.
The ever-popular Jousting event returns on Sunday, 5 April with displays at 1pm and 2.30pm. The event will take over the front field.

Georgia O’Keeffe exhibition announced for Beverley Art Gallery
'Memories of Drawings' is a Hayward Gallery Touring exhibition from Southbank Centre, London. The exhibition is free and will feature inside Beverley Art Gallery from Saturday, 28 March to Saturday, 23 May. Alongside the exhibition, the gallery will present a documentary film Georgia O’Keeffe: The Brightness of Light (2024). Directed by Academy Award and Emmy Award winning independent filmmaker Paul Wagner, it features Claire Danes as the voice of Georgia O’Keeffe, with narration by Hugh Dancy.

Child benefit increase
 Child benefit rates will increase from Monday, 7 April. If you are already claiming this, you will automatically receive increased payments.
New parents? Claim child benefit via the HMRC app and you could receive your first payment in as little as three working days.
Launch of Holiday Activities and Food summer holiday grants 2026
 Organisations can apply for up to £20,000 to deliver fun activities in the summer holidays.Applications are welcomed from organisations, charities, schools, town and parish councils, faith groups and businesses to provide four-hour sessions and a healthy meal for children and young people in receipt of benefits related free school meals.
The deadline for applications is Tuesday 7 April 2026 at noon.
