Budget agreed for 2026/27

The 2026/27 council budget has been agreed at the annual full council budget setting meeting held on Thursday, 5 February. Despite the reduction in government funding, a balanced budget is achieved through a combination of savings, transformation activity, a 4.99% council tax increase, asset sales, and targeted use of reserves to support financial stability while permanent savings are delivered.
Weekly brown bin collections start next week
 From next week, Monday 9 February, some residents will switch to weekly brown bin collections. This may mean your green and blue bin collection dates have changed too.
You should have received your new recycling information pack in the post which includes your new bin collection calendar. Please put your bin out before 7am on your collection date.

If you have the East Riding app you will automatically be notified when to put your bin out for collection.

 New parents often have lots of questions when a little one first arrives. It can feel quite overwhelming and there are lots of things you might not be sure about. The council are here to help.
We are offering access to free online learning to help navigate those early days of parenthood and to help you understand your baby.
East Riding Health and Wellbeing support

Are you looking to improve your wellbeing to feel happier and more productive? Why not take a look at the support available on the Healthy Minds website. You can find support and information from self-care to parenting and mental health support.
There are also groups available to join such as Walking for Health. The groups meet regularly for walks ranging from 30 minutes to two hours, and are for all abilities.
Road safety improvement scheme for Riplingham near South Cave
 The council is to invest £68,000 to upgrade the Westoby Lane/Comberdale Hill crossroads, which is due to start on Monday 16 February and take up to three weeks to complete. The project will include improvements to both junctions, with works involving kerbing, haunching and resurfacing works. Temporary four-way traffic lights will be in operation, followed by a two-day closure for the resurfacing of the road.
Hull and East Yorkshre Local Nature Recovery Strategy
 The Hull and East Yorkshire Local Nature Recovery Strategy (HEY LNRS) has been published, making it the first one in Yorkshire.
The strategy will play a vital role in shaping a more resilient environment for years to come, delivering benefits for nature, people and places across the region.
