Brown bin collections to go weekly

The weekly collections of brown bins will begin from Monday 9 February for two thirds of the East Riding – including the Bridlington, Driffield, Holderness, Market Weighton and Goole areas. They will then be rolled out to the remaining third from February 2027 to towns and villages in the Beverley, Cottingham, Willerby, Brough, Anlaby and Hessle areas.
Road improvements at High Hunsley near South Cave
 Three weeks of work started this week, Tuesday 13 January, to improve a stretch of road at High Hunsley, near South Cave.
The project aims to upgrade a length of White Gap Lane, between Westoby Lane and Comberdale Hill and is scheduled to take three weeks to complete. During the construction period, the affected road will be closed to all through traffic.

Beverley Saturday Market to undergo renovation works
 From Monday 19 January, the final phase of improvements for the pedestrian area and parking layout will take place. To minimise this disruption, the works are planned during the quieter months, although some areas of Saturday Market will need to be closed during the construction period for safety purposes. However, access will be maintained to businesses and properties.
Council backs campaign for increased and fairer education funding and major reform to SEND provision
 The f40 group, which campaigns on behalf of 43 local authorities across the country, is running a campaign week from Monday 19 January, campaigning for bold change and additional, fairer funding within the anticipated Schools White Paper and SEND reforms, which will be published by Government this year. East Riding receives £18 million less funding per year than the average local authority for SEND provision.
