Christmas message from the chairman of the council
Councillor Liam Dealtry, chairman of the council, would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Relationships Matter campaign launched
We have joined up with other councils across Yorkshire and the Humber to launch a Christmas campaign. The campaign, Relationships Matter, is aimed at giving families tips, advice and support for healthy family relationships this Christmas.
Support available for victims of domestic abuse
If you feel concerned for your own or someone else’s safety during the Christmas period please reach out to the council's Domestic Violence and Abuse Partnership (DVAP).
The team provide consent-based support, where information will only be shared with consent, unless there are concerns about risk of harm to children or serious criminal offences being committed.
Professional and self-referrals (calling about your own situation) can be made by calling 01482 396368 or email opsdvap@eastriding.gov.uk.
If you need immediate support in an emergency or are concerned for your own or someone else’s immediate safety, please always ring the Police on 999.
Support available for 'hidden carers'
Hidden carers provide unpaid support to family, friends and neighbours with disabilities or mental health challenges. Although caring for people can be very rewarding, it can often be very difficult at times, and the Carers Support Service is here to help.
When you register as a carer with the Carers Support Service, you will receive the quarterly ‘We Care’ newsletter and can access advice, information and support groups.
Be a part of the national conversation on SEND reform
You are invited to be a part of the national conversation on SEND reform. The national conversation encourages everyone to get involved and help build a consensus on what works to help deliver lasting reform. Every voice will help shape the system for children and young people.
Using cemeteries this Christmas

This time of year, many of us visit a cemetery to pay respects to loved ones. It’s so important that we all do our part to keep these spaces peaceful and respectful for everyone.
Our cemetery and grounds teams work tirelessly all year to make sure everything looks beautiful for visitors.
