Spring 2026 Estimates Open

Estimates for all funding streams are now open for submission on the Ehub. These are due to close on 14^th November

Funding codes

As part of the statuatory guidance the Local Authority will perform elegbility checks on all working parent entitlement codes which have been submitted in a previous term. To review the updated information please refer to the childrens individual details on the summary page. This does not include new children whos details are not yet on the system.

Please note you are still required to check all codes using the eligibility checker before the start of the new term or accepting new children onto a funded place as normal.

Our Halloween Costume Swap will be in full swing from 20 October, until 2 November.

Bring your outgrown, preloved costumes to our participating libraries, swap for a new-to-you one, or just come and browse for a new-to-you costume from those that have already been donated!

Information and Consultations

Consultation: Admission Arrangements 2027-28

Between Wednesday 8 October and Wednesday 26 November 2025, East Riding of Yorkshire Council is consulting on the admission arrangements for community and voluntary schools for the 2027-28 school year.

Draft documents will shortly be available and can be accessed at School admissions arrangements for 2027-28

There are changes proposed to the admission numbers of 15 community or voluntary controlled schools this year, that have either been requested by those schools or suggested by the local authority as the admissions authority.  The proposed changes are being proposed mainly to reflect changes in demand or to provide an admission number that is appropriate for the organisation of classes and use of resources at those schools.

Headteachers and Chair of Governors of all schools within the East Riding are being informed and are being consulted with, as well as those neighbouring Local Authorities and religious diocese.

During this period we are interested in the views of any residents, parents / carers or other interested parties, and ask that views from those outside the immediate school community be expressed via the online public survey hosted at

Please note that the admission arrangements for academy, foundation and voluntary aided schools are not included within this consultation and that those admission authorities may or may not be consulting on their admission arrangements for the 2027-28 school year.

Following this period of consultation, the admission arrangements will be considered alongside any responses by the Council's Cabinet in January 2026 to meet the government's determination deadline of 28 February 2026.

Do Something Big’: New Videos and Stories to promote careers in childcare

As part of a national recruitment campaign, the department is encouraging people to ‘Do Something Big’ by starting a career working with young children - whether in nurseries, as childminders, or in wraparound care roles before and after school. The dedicated ‘Do Something Big’ website provides information on gaining relevant qualifications and searching for current job opportunities.  

You can also explore real-life stories from people already working in these roles, offering insight into the impact and rewards of a career in childcare.  

The department have produced new videos that showcase inspiring journeys and authentic experiences from professionals across the sector, that you can view and share below: 

Meet Monica - Monica began as a Teaching Assistant but saw an opportunity to grow. She embraced a new challenge and became an Extended Services Coordinator, leading both Breakfast and Wraparound clubs (video opens in new tab). 

Meet Bernie - a Breakfast Club team member who’s passionate about giving children the best possible start to their day (video opens in new tab).  

Meet Diamond – a Wraparound Manager creating safe, nurturing spaces where children can play, connect, and feel supported beyond the school day (opens in new tab). 

Best Start in Life Update

The Best Start in Life campaign aims to increase awareness of the role of the early years in a child’s development, increase parental understanding of things they can do in their child’s early years and how early education supports child development. This is why our Best Start in Life website brings together trusted advice, support and guidance for parents to turn to. Whether they are wondering when the right time is to wean their baby, looking into childcare support options, or thinking about activities to get their child ready for school, the Best Start in Life website offers a broad range of information for families, including eligibility for childcare offers, help to find free breakfast clubs and Best Start Family Hubs in their area, and support on pregnancy through to starting school and beyond.   

We hope you can support the Best Start in Life campaign and help us reach parents and carers of young children with key messages to support them on their journey.  To help you do just that please:

• Use the toolkit resources are here: Best Start in Life | Toolkit and creative assets. Feel free to make use of the creative assets, newsletter and blog copy, and sample social posts included in our toolkit to promote the campaign across your channels.  

You can also:

• Promote the Best Start in Life website: Use your channels to encourage parents to explore Best Start in Life to find trusted resources and information as well as local support
• Share the PR video on your socials: ‘The Story of You’ celebrates the journey of early childhood, highlighting to parents the vital role they play in their child’s lives and the support available. The film is scripted by children’s author Camilla Reid (author of the Pip and Posy books), illustrated by Rob Biddulph (illustrator of Blown Away and Odd Dog Out) and narrated by famous parents; dancer and author Oti Mabuse, TV personality Billie Shepherd, online creators Ms Apple and Tay Kabs, as well as much-loved character, Mummy Pig from the Peppa Pig series alongside ‘Secret Life of 4 Year Olds’ childhood expert Professor Sam Wass
