National Care Leavers Month - how your team can get involved
November is National Care Leavers Month (NCLM), a month-long celebration of care-experienced people that aims to raise awareness and highlight their achievements. A care leaver is anyone aged 16-25 who is, or has been, in care or looked after by a local authority.
As corporate parents, it is our responsibility to make care leavers' transition to independent living as easy as possible by providing them with support and opportunities, just as any parents would.
Did you know, we can offer up to 140 hours of work experience in many directorates across the council? This supports our care leavers by improving their CVs and increasing their employability.
Could your team offer work experience? Email the Pathway team to start the conversation.
