Major milestones for Jock's Lodge road transformation
 Yesterday, Thursday 14 August, the Jock's Lodge project reached a landmark with the following changes:
- The current Jock’s Lodge junction on the A164 will be closed, its traffic lights removed and the slipways on to the A1079 will be closed. Traffic will no longer be able to access the A1079 from Jock’s Lodge,
- Instead, traffic will be switched over to a newly built section of the A164 road travelling between Bentley and the Lincoln Way roundabout on Minster Way in Beverley,
- This will be the new way to access the A1079. Traffic will travel to a newly constructed roundabout on the A1079 along the new route between Bentley and Minster Way,
- The current section of the A164 between the Morrison’s roundabout and Bentley will be closed to all except local traffic.
East Riding Fostering online information event
 Are you thinking about fostering and would like to find out more? There is an online event taking place on Wednesday, 20 August at 7pm.
This online event is a great opportunity to find out what's involved in becoming a foster carer. Learn about the different types of fostering, fostering rates, and the excellent support package available.
This event is informal and conversational, there is no pressure to apply, it is an opportunity to learn more about fostering with East Riding Fostering.

Construction begins on £45 million Howden Relief Road
 A groundbreaking ceremony has marked the start of one of East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s largest construction projects, the Howden Relief Road.
Howden Relief Road is designed to reduce congestion by diverting heavy traffic away from the town centre, reducing accidents, lowering carbon emissions and improving travel times.
The project will see the building of a link road between the A614 Thorpe Road and Station Road (B1228), together with four roundabouts, on what is currently farmland.
£150,000 to be provided for initiatives for young people across the East Riding
 The Do it For East Yorkshire (DIFEY) scheme, funded by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, is providing funding for youth initiatives through its Our Place - Youth Fund provision. This fund is designed to support community groups, charities, and youth projects throughout East Riding, with a total of £150,000 available for initiatives aimed at benefiting young people in the area.
Students celebrate A-Level, T-Level and BTEC results
 Yesterday, Thursday, 14 August, Students across the East Riding received their A-Level, T-Level and BTEC results. The Key Stage 5 league tables will be published by the Department for Education in January 2026. This will include attainment and progress measures for A-levels, T-levels, BTECs and diplomas.
