 Nature-based activities and wellbeing survey
East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Hull and East Yorkshire Local Nature Partnership and the University of Hull have launched a consultation to understand how outdoor and nature-based activities can support wellbeing and encourage pro-environmental behaviours.
The research aims to understand how different types of activities – such as conservation, outdoor exercise, gardening, and mindfulness – can influence people’s health, connection to nature, and environmental values.
The findings will help inform future green-blue social prescribing services and environmental engagement programmes in the East Riding and beyond.

The comparative value of on-site vs off-site Biodiversity Net Gain for restoring nature
As the government considers the future of the Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) policy, new analysis by Foundation for Nature has identified opportunities for how it could be strengthened to deliver even greater benefits for nature, developers and communities and contribute to bridging the nature finance gap.
The report finds that the current emphasis on delivering BNG within development boundaries is severely limiting its potential. To date, the vast majority of delivery is currently happening within the development site – despite the evidence that this approach is poor for biodiversity and economically inefficient.
