Holiday Activities and Food summer programme launches
This summer, children and young people who receive benefits-related free school meals can enjoy free, fun and creative activities as part of Holiday Activities and Food (HAF).
The sessions, funded by the Department for Education, are aimed at those aged between five and 16, and who are in receipt of benefits-related free school meals.
A limited number of places are also available to children and young people who have an education, health and care plan (EHCP), regardless of their free school meals status.
Most sessions are four hours long and each child and young person can book up to 16 sessions for free in the summer holidays, subject to availability. Places are booked on a first- come, first-served basis.
To stay updated with events, residents can sign up to our HAF newsletter at eryc.link/HAF

High-tech AI camera used in trial to combat litter on verges
A CCTV camera using AI technology is now being trialled in a bid to combat litter thrown carelessly on grass verges in the East Riding.
We have launched a pilot scheme with the firm LitterCam to install a high-tech camera on a road in Willerby to record drivers who dump their rubbish on the roadside.
The annual cost to the council of clearing litter from streets in the East Riding, including its verges, is £4.36m.

Register for our ‘More than Weight’ network events
Throughout July, our public health team will be hosting a series of in-person ‘More than Weight’ network events.
These sessions are open to anyone who wants to explore what healthy weight means to us in East Riding, and how we could take a more compassionate approach to weight in all areas of our lives.
Everyone is welcome to join in, whether your interest in weight is personal, work-related or through lived experience.

Take part in the Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment
We’re asking residents for their feedback to support our local authority Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA). Sharing their views will help ensure that pharmacy services in East Riding meet their needs.
What is the Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA)?
The Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) reviews the pharmacy services in East Riding to see if they meet the community's needs. The NHS uses this assessment when considering new pharmacy applications to ensure they fill any gaps in service. Since April 2013, the Health and Social Care Act 2012 requires Health and Wellbeing Boards to publish PNAs every three years.
