Humber Forest plants a record number of trees
 Humber Forest has planted a record 368,000 trees over the 2024-25 planting season, a 35% rise compared to last year. Humber Forest’s efforts in 2024-25 include 35 miles (56km) of hedgerows, the equivalent distance from Flamborough to Withernsea.

Bridlington Central Library to reopen following major refurbishment
 Bridlington Central Library, which closed on 29 March will be open to the public from Monday, 14 July. The library received £250,000 funding from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport’s Libraries Improvement Fund and along with additional council funding, the project has transformed Bridlington Central Library.
Businesses and charities collaborate with St Anne's Sixth Form
St Anne’s School and Sixth Form supports children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Young people aged 16 to 19 who attend the sixth form benefit from work experience on site at the school and with local businesses and charities.Young people from St Anne’s School and Sixth Form welcomed local businesses to hear about, and see first-hand, how skills and work-based opportunities are helping them prepare for adulthood.

Bridmas returns to Bridlington this August
 Bridmas Day is back on Wednesday 6 August, bringing festive cheer to the East Yorkshire coast with a day packed full of Christmas themed fun for all the family. From Santa and elves to Christmas crafts, food, games, live music and even a pantomime dame, this unique summer celebration promises something for everyone.
Children across the East Riding will be able to swim for free during the school summer holidays
 East Riding Leisure are offering free swimming sessions for all children aged 16 and under throughout the summer holidays. From Saturday, 19 July to Monday, 1 September, there will be a total of 16 hours’ free swimming across eight East Riding Leisure centres.
Yorkshire Day Discovers: Pop-Up Archive and Collections Event
 Celebrate Yorkshire Day at Champney Treasure House with a pop-up display exploring to the history of the East Riding. A selection of records from East Riding Archives will be on display and an archivist will be available to assist with your local history questions.

 Expecting a baby? You could get £500 to help with the costs.
You might be eligible for a Sure Start Maternity Grant, a one-off tax-free payment of £500 to support you with the costs of having a child.
You usually qualify if: - it’s your first child, or you’re having twins or more and already have children - you or your partner receive certain benefits (like Universal Credit or Income Support) - you apply within 11 weeks before or six months after your baby is born
No need to pay it back and it won’t affect your other benefits.
