East Riding’s hidden lifesavers - throwlines at key water spots
 As the warmer months draw more people to rivers, lakes and coastline, it is more important for everyone to stay vigilant around open water. Last year a number of throwlines, specialist lifesaving equipment designed to help people in trouble in the water, were installed at multiple high-risk locations across the East Riding.
Road improvements to be carried out near North Ferriby
 Essential overnight road improvements are due to be carried out at a busy junction near North Ferriby this month. £200,000 is being invested to upgrade the road surface and replace foundation layers on the A15 road between the Humberfield roundabout and the junction with Ferriby High Road, where the road connects with the A63.The work is due to begin on Monday 7 July and will also include clearing its neighbouring footpath of overgrown vegetation.
House of Commons drop-in highlights issue of fairer funding for SEND
 Councillor Victoria Aitken, cabinet member for children, families and education, joined local MPs, Graham Stuart and Charlie Dewhirst, and f40 colleagues hosting a drop-in for MPs to highlight the need for fair investment in education. East Riding receives £9 million less in funding than the England average for mainstream education, and £18 million less than the average for SEND funding.
Final stage of Pocklington road improvement scheme to begin
 The final stage of a £1.2m road and footpath improvement scheme in Pocklington is due to begin this month. £400,000 will be invested to upgrade the road surface along West Green, between Canal Lane and Railway Street, during the school holidays. The West Green phase is due to start on Monday 21 July and last for five weeks, weather permitting, with work being carried out on weekdays from 9am to 5pm.
