Free online parenting guides now available for families
 The Solihull Approach is a set of online guides that aim to help parents better understand their child's feelings and behaviour and to help parents with resilience, knowledge, and confidence for all stages of parenting.
Retiring Headteachers celebrated this Thank a Teacher Day
 Wednesday, 18 June is national Thank a Teacher Day and we are celebrating the dedication of four Headteachers, as they prepare to retire from the profession this summer. Children and families can send a free personalised thank you card to anyone working in early years, school or college. Keep an eye out on our social media channels on the day to hear stories from the four retiring headteachers.
Pilot programme installs solar panels and heat pumps in Fridaythorpe
 The project in Fridaythorpe targeted properties in locations not connected to the gas network, installing air source heat pumps, replacing roof coverings, insulating roof voids and installing solar panels, to help contribute to the running cost of the new heating systems. These measures ensure compliance with the Decent Home Standards for social housing.
Breaking barriers to boost school attendance
 Schools are dedicated to making sure every child attends school happy and ready to learn. Parents are encouraged to seek support for any concerns about their child's school attendance. If you have any concerns about your child's attendance, you can speak to your child's school, which will provide support and strategies to help.
Children's Services win prestigious national award
 The innovative mobile youth service, Our Place, has won the Children's Services Award at the LGC Awards 2025, held on Wednesday, 11 June at Grosvenor House, London.

Race the Waves in Bridlington this weekend
 From now until Sunday, 15 June watch vehicles, including motorcycles, perform 'spirited drag-races' in pairs over a 200 year course marked in the fresh tidal sand. Head on over to Bridlington and enjoy a thrilling, high-octane weekend.

 Tickets are now on sale for Live 'n Loud in Libraries, running from Saturday, 5 July to Thursday, 21 August with a varied and exciting program of events. Live 'n Loud at Flemingate will also return this year.
