Autumn Term 2025 Estimates

Estimates for the Autumn term 2025 are open for submission for all funding streams. This also means that you can add/amend ones already submitted for the Autumn term in your annual budget summaries earlier this year.

Please be mindful that the new funding comes into force from September and parents eligible for the working parent entitlement for 9 month+ and 2 year funding will increase for 15 to 30 funded hours. Parent/carers must keep their code reconfirmed and valid for the term they are accessing the funding in.

Deadline date for submissions is 11^th July 2025

For the attention of parents and carers that have used the FISH service

The Families Information Service are currently in the process of renewing their Families First Quality Assurance Award. As part of the assessment process the external assessor would like to speak to parents and carers regarding their experience of using the FISH service. If you or anyone else you may know might be interested in providing feedback, please contact FISH via fish@eastriding.gov.uk.

The feedback process will involve a 15-minute telephone call with the assessor on either Monday 7 July or Tuesday 8 July. If you require any further information, please contact us.

Climate action plans for a sustainable future

The Department for Education expects all education settings to have a climate action plan by 2025. For free help to develop and progress your climate action plan, register for interactive workshops throughout May courtesy of Foundation Years and Action for Children

They will guide you to identify key actions, engage colleagues, and access support to integrate sustainability into school life.

Space requirements in early years childcare settings in England

The DfE are seeking views on options for amending the indoor space requirements in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory frameworks.

Early Years & Wraparound Capital Funding- Second Round

The second round of Early Years and Wraparound Capital Funding is set to open on the 15^th June 2025. Further information will be published on the opening of the grant.

Public Health Update

We are approaching the warmer seasons of the year and with that comes hotter days. Our children and young people are particularly vulnerable heat related risks and heat related illness.

Heated related illness can range from mild stress to potentially life-threatening heatstroke. The most common risks is dehydration and sunburn.

There are many things we can do to reduce the risk of hear related illness these are:

Indoors

• Encourage children to drink water
• If possible, use rooms that are less likely to overheat
• Use fans in rooms
• Switch off all electrical products if not in use
• Shade sun facing windows
• If possible close windows during the day when it is warmest.

Outdoors ·

. Sign up for weather health alerts (you can sign up here)

• Children should not take part in vigorous activity on very hot days.
• Uniform rules should be relaxed during amber or red weather alerts.
• Encourage children to stay in the shade
• Apply suncream
• Encourage children to drink plenty of water

It is important that you continue to track and report illness on the SharePoint. This is so we can support settings to stay open and prevent spread.

Updated Working Together to Safeguard Children guidance to include children and young people’s guide

On Monday 8 May 2025, the Department for Education released a new illustrated guide and short animation to help children and young people understand the Working Together to Safeguard Children guidance.

These resources explain how people work together to help, support and protect children. Designed for independent use or with an adult, they promote clear, open communication so young people know what to expect, what support is available and how to access it.

National Breastfeeding Helpline

National Breastfeeding Helpline will be open as usual over the bank holiday weekend 24/7. So please do tell the families you support. 

The National Breastfeeding Helpline provides free evidence-based non-judgmental, friendly breastfeeding support for all.  The Helpline is for anyone who wants breastfeeding support.

All calls are answered by volunteers or members of staff who have breastfed their own children, have completed comprehensive accredited training and undertake ongoing training and supervision.

As well as calls to the helpline phone number, support is available via webchat and Facebook & Instagram messenger. Support is also available in Welsh, Polish, Bengali & Sylheti.

We’re here for families on every step of your breastfeeding journey however old your baby is, one day, one week, one month, one year old or more. The number to call 0300 100 0212 to speak to our friendly team 24/7.
