Kids and the Participation Collective 

Kids are part of the Disabled Children’s Partnership, who have co-produced a toolkit for MPs and their teams to support with SEND casework.

Kids and the Participation Collective are calling on local MPs to arrange constituency surgeries on Friday 15 November as an opportunity for SEND young people to share their experiences, ideas and hopes for the future. They want young people want to engage their local MPs by emailing or writing to them to ask them to hold these surgeries. This also provides an opportunity for MPs to put their toolkits into practice.

Kids are asking young people and youth group leaders to write a Call to Action letter to their local MP and ask for a surgery to be held on Friday 15 November.

Kids youth groups are already writing their letters and hope that other SEND young people and youth groups will get involved too. Each local area is different but the voice of SEND young people is important and they want MPs to listen.

Kids and the Participation Collective are hoping that photos from the local meetings will be shared across different platforms to help celebrate children and young people’s engagement and this positive step in ‘breaking down barriers’ to young people with SEND being heard by leaders.

Please join us at Beverley Leisure Centre for our first workshop of the current school year, which will be covering all aspects of need identification and assessment.

This workshop is being funded by the Joyona Charitable Trust, registered number 1125861 and delivered by Shirley Pethick.

The day will include:

SEND legal framework & Code of Practice.

Interactive sessions on assessment and identification of need.

Termly support plans and outcomes.

Feel free to bring with you any documentation you have for your child, such as EHCPs and current termly support plans.
