East Riding Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS) Survey

The Children’s Commissioning Team are conducting a review of the East Riding Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information Advice and Support Service (East Riding SENDIASS) and they would like to hear about your experience of their service as part of the review.

East Riding SENDIASS offer confidential and impartial Special Education Needs and Disability Information, Advice and Support.

The current Service Level Agreement is due to end in 2025 and therefore it is crucial to capture the perspectives of parents, carers, children, and young people. We would like to ensure that everyone's voices are heard and considered. By participating in this survey, you'll have the opportunity to share your valuable insights and help to shape the future of the service.

This survey “The Big Listen” – will contribute to the formulation of a Local Authority SEND and Inclusion Strategy, which will help shape the future for SEND and Inclusion, within East Riding, over the next 5 years.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Christmas 2024 grant scheme

The scheme is now launched supporting providers to deliver fun activities for children and young people aged 5-16 years who are in receipt of benefits related free school meals (FSM) in the Christmas school holidays. There’s up to £5,000 available for organisations to provide activities including sport, play, drama, cooking, crafts, dance, music, healthy lifestyles, art or outdoor adventures. Funding can be spent on management and delivery staff, venues, equipment, volunteer expenses, food, marketing, trips, capital resources, etc.

HAF monies can fully fund programmes solely for eligible children and young people who go to school in the East Riding or part-fund FSM places on sessions for everyone. A meal is to be provided each time pupils attend, and all sessions should be 4 hours long, but recognise that shorter sessions for secondary school-aged pupils may be more beneficial. Organisations can apply for funding for just one event or a series of sessions.

Organisations need to adhere to our minimum operating standards which include

· All staff and volunteers must hold a valid DBS and have undertaken safeguarding training

· A qualified first aider must be present when delivering the programme

· Activities and venues are assessed, with measures put in place to manage identified risks

· All staff to adhere to their organisation’s governance (safeguarding, safer recruitment, equality, privacy and health & safety policies)

· Holds public and employer’s liability insurance to a sum of 5 million.

With the rise in the cost of living, HAF enables families to enjoy a healthy meal and enriching activities for free across the East Riding.

East Yorkshire Parent Carer Forum

EYPCF hosting PINS (Partnership for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools) Project Launch – Bishop Burton College

Date – Wednesday 18^th September 2024

Time – 9:30 – 13:30

Venue – The Equine Lounge, Bishop Burton College, HU17 8QG

COST – FREE, parking is available onsite, and a light lunch will be provided.

Notes - The pilot is for parents, carers, and school staff from the seven primary schools across the East Riding, which are: Croxby Primary, Kingsway Primary, Market Weighton Infants, Thorngumbald Primary, Skirlaugh, Newport, and Acre Heads.

If your child attends one of these schools and you would like to attend the launch event, please see our website for further information on what the day will include and to book your tickets.

The Partnerships for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools (PINS) will bring health and education specialists, and East Yorkshire Parent Carer Forum (EYPCF) together to support and shape the whole school SEND provision including supporting parent carers of neurodivergent children and young people.

Notes - This session is for all parents and carers of children and young people (0-25) with SEND.

Please join us for our Annual General Meeting, highlighting what we have done over the previous year and looking ahead to what will be happening over the one to come. We have new developments to tell you about and look forward to seeing you there.

This is also a chance to meet the members of the EYPCF team and a great opportunity to meet likeminded parents and carers who understand what life is like as a SEND family to share experiences and offer peer to peer support.

We can provide expenses support (mileage or public transport) or any childcare costs although children are more than welcome.

Local Offer Survey 2024

The Local Offer website aims to provide clear, accessible information about what support and services are available in the area for parents, children and young people aged 0 - 25 years with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND).

The site continues to be developed by a group consisting of representatives from the parent carer forum, local authority and health services, community partners, parent/carers and young people with SEND. We aim to provide a site that complies with the statutory requirements outlined in the SEND code of practice and SEND Regulations 2014 and most importantly meets the needs of local families.

We would like to collect your views on how you are using the website, what you find useful and what parts we need to improve.

The survey will be open until Monday 4^th November. Findings from the survey will be shared on the Local Offer website and a future edition of the newsletter.”
