The Dolly Parton Imagination Library
The Dolly Parton Imagination Library has recently launched in the East Riding.
This is a book gifting programme devoted to inspiring a love of reading in children from birth. Each month all children who are registered will receive a high quality, age-appropriate book in the post, free of charge. The books include traditional stories and rhymes, books by beloved authors and illustrators, non-fiction content, and newly published titles.
A study undertaken for the North Lincolnshire Imagination Library by Dr Caroline Zwierzchowska-Dod of Swansea University found that the programme improved children's reading skills, parental engagement, and bonding. Parents were 30% more likely to read daily with their child after joining the programme.
Children in the programme for more than a year had a 40% increased chance of achieving the "Good Level of Development" standard, and a 54% increased chance of achieving the Early Learning Goal for reading, compared to children with similar characteristics who were not in the programme.
Children enrolled from birth will receive 60 books over the course of their 5 years in the programme.
Attached you will find a poster with a QR code, please forward this to your parents, add to your website etc. You will shortly also receive hard copies of the poster to put up on your notice boards.
Please encourage all your parents to sign their children up.
