Applications for 2024 Freedom Activity Support Payment (FASP) Now Open

We are pleased to be able to share that applications for the 2024 Freedom Activity Support Payment (FASP) are now open.

Following the success of last year, we will continue to accept referrals via an online application form and this can be accessed using the link below. For parents and carers who need support with the online application, the 0-25 SEND Team will be here via phone or email to provide assistance.

Once again, the entire FASP will be paid as one payment of £300 (pro-rata if a young person turns 7 or 18 within the qualifying year).

Applications will be open until Sunday 6^th September 2024

Go Kids Go

Go Kids Go are a children’s charity who run free wheelchair skills workshops for young wheelchair users across the UK. On the workshops we cover essential skills such as back wheel balancing, negotiating kerbs and small obstacles, general indoor and outdoor manoeuvring skills and do a gentle introduction wheelchair sports such as basketball and dance. The workshops are fun and inclusive, we provide a stock of spare wheelchairs so that parents/carers and siblings can join in with the activities too.

We have a workshop coming up in Driffield on the 30^th of June and still have some spaces available. The workshop is open to all young wheelchair users (manual or powered) age 18 months and over. For more information call 01482 887 163.

EYPCF hosting Brunch - Withernsea

Date – 26th June 2024

Time – 10:30 – 12:30

Venue – Withernsea Leisure Centre – 134 Station Rd, Withernsea, HU19 2QA

COST – FREE, parking is available onsite, please log your registration number with reception.

Notes - This session is for all parents and carers of children and young people (0-25) with SEND.

We will be joined by Pippa from The Lookout, Jess from the Preparing for Adulthood team, and Sym from Health Watch.

This is a chance to meet the members of the EYPCF team and a great opportunity to meet likeminded parents and carers who understand what life is like as a SEND family to share experiences and offer peer to peer support.

We can provide expenses support (mileage or public transport) or any childcare costs although children are more than welcome.

Disagreement Resolution and Mediation Consultation

The purpose:

The local authority currently commissions an external, independent service to provide a disagreement resolution and mediation service for parents/carers and young people in relation to SEND disagreements. The local authority has two services which support disagreements in relation to Education, Health and Care assessments and plans. Both services are independent of the local authority, should be operated by the same provider, and are free to access. These services include:

1. Disagreement Resolution Service - will offer disagreements resolution to parent carers and young people to help resolve disagreements about any aspect of Education, Health, and Care provision.

2. Mediation Service - This service is used for any decision that could lead to an appeal to the SEND Tribunal, this includes: Refusal to carry out an EHC assessment Refusal to issue a EHC Plan after an assessment Ceasing to maintain a EHC Plan Disagreement about the description of need, provision to meet those needs and/or placement stated in an EHC Plan.

The current contract is due to end on 31 October 2024 and therefore a tender exercise will be required to be undertaken to find a new provider. It is crucial to capture the perspectives of parents, carers, children, and young people. We would like to ensure that everyone's voices are heard and taken into account. By participating in this survey, you'll have the opportunity to share your valuable insights and help to shape the future of the service.
