Applications for 2024 Freedom Activity Support Payment (FASP) Now Open

We are pleased to be able to share that applications for the 2024 Freedom Activity Support Payment (FASP) are now open.

Following the success of last year, we will continue to accept referrals via an online application form and this can be accessed using the link below. For parents and carers who need support with the online application, the 0-25 SEND Team will be here via phone or email to provide assistance.

Once again, the entire FASP will be paid as one payment of £300 (pro-rata if a young person turns 7 or 18 within the qualifying year).

Applications will be open until Sunday 6^th September 2024

Wheelchair Alliance Survey

The Wheelchair Alliance are seeking responses to a short survey for a new research project to explore how best to improve NHS Wheelchair provision across the country. As part of this work, we would like to explore how wheelchair users are currently using Personal Wheelchair Budgets and the personal financial costs of topping these budgets up.

Any wheelchair user is welcome to respond to the survey, regardless of whether you are using a Personal Wheelchair Budget or not.

Events

East Riding Libraries is delighted to announce the launch of its brand new festival for children and young people, Live 'n Loud in Libraries.

With a varied and exciting programme - featuring live music, forensics, activities, author visits and much more - the festival runs from Monday 22 July until Saturday 31 August.

Tickets go on sale on Tuesday 4 June at 8am.

With 66 live events running across the summer for all ages to enjoy, there is something for all the family to get involved in, with all tickets being kept as low-a-cost as possible. One adult also goes free with each ticket purchased. For more information click here

Notes - This session is for all parents and carers of children and young people (0-25) with SEND.

This is a chance to meet the members of the EYPCF team and a great opportunity to meet likeminded parents and carers who understand what life is like as a SEND family to share experiences and offer peer to peer support.

We can provide expenses support (mileage or public transport) or any childcare costs although children are more than welcome.

Humberside Fire & Rescue have issued more dates for their free online training on Fire Awareness , which includes looking at hazards such as hoarding, emollient use and airway flow.

This training is open to all Partner agencies and may be particularly useful for frontline practitioners who make home visits, as the content is relevant to themes of identifying neglect.

Surveys, Consultations and Useful Information

Disagreement Resolution and Mediation Consultation

The purpose:

The local authority currently commissions an external, independent service to provide a disagreement resolution and mediation service for parents/carers and young people in relation to SEND disagreements. The local authority has two services which support disagreements in relation to Education, Health and Care assessments and plans. Both services are independent of the local authority, should be operated by the same provider, and are free to access. These services include:

1. Disagreement Resolution Service - will offer disagreements resolution to parent carers and young people to help resolve disagreements about any aspect of Education, Health, and Care provision.

2. Mediation Service - This service is used for any decision that could lead to an appeal to the SEND Tribunal, this includes: Refusal to carry out an EHC assessment Refusal to issue a EHC Plan after an assessment Ceasing to maintain a EHC Plan Disagreement about the description of need, provision to meet those needs and/or placement stated in an EHC Plan.

The current contract is due to end on 31 October 2024 and therefore a tender exercise will be required to be undertaken to find a new provider. It is crucial to capture the perspectives of parents, carers, children, and young people. We would like to ensure that everyone's voices are heard and taken into account. By participating in this survey, you'll have the opportunity to share your valuable insights and help to shape the future of the service.
