Local Offer Roadshow - drop-in sessions

Over the past 12 months the Local Offer website has been re-designed with the help of parents, carers and young people to ensure it meets the needs of our local community.

Over spring/summer 2024 a series of information sessions are being held at libraries across the East Riding to demonstrate the new-look website, showcase the range of information available and get feedback from families on any developments we can make.

No need to book just come along and meet the Local Offer team.

Simon Megson - Local Offer Officer

The Local Offer Project Officer sits within ERYC Children and Young People's Specialist Services in the 0-25 SEND Team. This role is responsible for co-ordinating developments to the Local Offer website to ensure it is complaint with statutory requirements and accurately represents local provision. More importantly, it involves engaging with local families and their representatives to ensure developments are co-produced, accessible and meet needs.

Butterwick Alpaca Retreat.

We are a small purpose-built farm situated in a quiet and peaceful area surrounded by farmed fields to ensure a tranquil environment.

We provide alpaca trekking on a small scale with our 5 pet boys down the country lane which is enjoyed by all ages and the sensory aspect of these animals enable us to welcome the general public, the visually impaired and a wide range of disabilities including dementia, autism, general mental health issues and of course those who benefit from being in a happy and supportive environment.

Our sensory farm is also home to chickens, ducks, 2 Ryeland sheep, 3 mischievous pygmy goats that are also halter trained for walks and our rabbits and guinea pigs who are always looking for a cuddle and some loving human interaction.

We would love to welcome 1:1 and small groups to benefit from our amazing animals here.

Sensory care visits are loved by schools, nurseries, school holiday clubs, residents/staff members at many different care facilities for all ages.

Our aim is to make as many people happy as possible 😊

EYPCF hosting Check-in & Chat

Date – 18 June 2024

Time – 10:30 – 12:30

Venue – Beverley – The Enterprise Centre, Beck View Rd, Beverely, HU17 0JT

COST – FREE, parking is available onsite, please log your registration number with reception.

Notes - This session is for all parents and carers of children and young people (0-25) with SEND.

This is a chance to meet the members of the EYPCF team and a great opportunity to meet likeminded parents and carers who understand what life is like as a SEND family to share experiences and offer peer to peer support.

Please send us an email to let us know that you will be joining us with your name and contact details.

We can provide expenses support (mileage or public transport) or any childcare costs although children are more than welcome.

DFN PROJECT SEARCH ASDA

Hull City Council, Wilberforce College East Riding of Yorkshire Council DFN Project SEARCH is a one-year Supported Internship programme for young people with an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan. It is targeted at young people whose goal is competitive employment in the community. Interns will be based within areas at ASDA, Mount Pleasant, Hull.

Siemens in Goole - have now had their interest event and the application deadline for their programme is 30th April. For young people aged 18+.

Aviva have a new programme starting in York that is open to young people from the East Riding. They are offering a very flexible programme in terms of tasks and job roles, which will be in areas such as IT, projects, data, customer support etc. They would welcome applicants within the travel to work distance - if you have any interested young people please let me know and I can get application info from York (or for more info about job roles etc. please email yorksupportedinternships@aviva.com). Application deadline is end of April. This one is open to young people aged 17+.

Choices College are still recruiting for their programme in York and will be holding an assessment day sometime before May half term. This one is for young people aged 16+.

Surveys, Consultations and Useful Information

Disagreement Resolution and Mediation service Consultation.

The local authority currently commissions KIDS to deliver our Disagreement Resolution and Mediation service. The current contract commenced on 1 November 2021 and is due to close on 31 October 2024. We have subsequently had approval from the Executive Director of Children’s, Families, and Schools to go to tender to recommission a suitable service provider as this is mandated.

We are seeking availability for parents and carers to meet for a consultation discussion regarding the recommissioning of East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Disagreement Resolution and Mediation Service. As a part of this tender process, the input from parents/carers and children/young people, as well as other stakeholders, is invaluable in devising a suitable specification to meet need. The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss and agree the questions which will go out to stakeholders as an online consultation (for a period of 6-8 weeks). The consultation responses would then inform the specification for this service for a new contract period.

We propose to meet with you at one of the below times at County Hall, Beverley, HU17 9BA:
