It is now six months since we launched our adult social care and health (ASCH) workforce plan and we thought it would be an opportune time to provide you with an update for each of the different workstreams:
Well Engaged
Lead: Emma Smith

Communication Framework/ Plan – currently establishing what meetings take place, frequency, attendees etc to ensure the cascade of information between CLT and the workforce.

Communication with non-networked staff – how do we get the same consistent messages out to all ASCH workforce? This is part of the workforce survey (see below).

Workforce with lived experience – looking at how questions can be incorporated into all internal surveys eg staff who are also carers, staff who are neurodiverse etc, to build a picture of what additional support that might be needed and provide relevant information.

TLAP (Think Local Act Personal) Statements – looking at how we embed 'I' and 'we' statements into our planning and thinking.

Co-production pledge – ensuring accessibility/plain English across the whole council.

Achievement awards – building on the success of this year’s achievement awards
Well Informed
Lead: Jessica Cross

We are listening mailbox – the remit has now been extended to also include workforce suggestions/ ideas on how the service could be improved and how things could be done better. Information is shared with the Directorate Leadership Team (DLT) on a monthly basis.

Quality Practice Framework – has been developed and a team’s channel created to share information mainly for social workers and care co-ordinators and includes factsheets, ‘what if’ cards etc. This information is going to be reviewed to support providers and to share practice.

Outcomes from provider forums, complaints, investigations – looking at how this information is included in policies, procedures, contract monitoring etc.

Complaints investigations – training is being developed and a flowchart to show workforce engagement during the process.

Training stocktake – looking at the uptake of record keeping and report writing training.
Well Led
Lead: Bev Compton

Communication with the workforce – establishing current methods through the workforce survey and then will look at future methods.

ASCH newsletter – looking to develop and circulate to the workforce.

Leadership development – identifying uptake and completion on internal leadership courses.

Flexible, compressed etc working arrangements – establishing current practice and promoting.

Phonebook entries – requested phonebook amendments on the intranet to replicate the new structure.

Directory of projects – currently being developed.

Sign-off process – will be identifying and then look at how these can be simplified.
Well Resourced and Valued
Lead: Gareth Everton

Well Resource and Well Valued – workstreams merged into one.

Vacancy monitoring – establishing if a report can be run from iTrent on a regular basis to provide up to date information.

Recruitment process – clarifying roles and responsibilities in the process eg references, DBS.

Team structures – clarifying established team structures.
-
Effective supervision – what the need is and purpose for each area.
Delivery Group
Lead: Hannah Feeney

ASCH Induction – new checklists are being produced for the service and a suite of induction information.

Intranet migration – there will be a new directory of documents for adult social care on the intranet so that they are in one place and accessible to all.

Workforce dashboards – being developed to include establishment structures, vacancies, sickness, leave etc.

Peer Challenge outcomes – once available will be fed into the relevant workstream and circulated to the workforce.

Workforce survey – circulated to the workforce on 13 October 2023, deadline 30 October 2023. Paper copies available if required.
