Public Health Information- Early Years Update
Public Health Information- Early Years Update
As the Autumnal weather continues, we are all too aware that this well mean an increase in notifiable and infectious diseases within your early years setting. Therefore, we felt it prudent to provide updated information about the guidance and support available to you.
Reporting Notifiable & Infectious Diseases
Details and a reminder below of our reporting system for notifiable and infectious diseases through our Public Health Team- they will report any cases to Public Health England negating the statutory requirement for you to do so.
As part of our ongoing support for our settings, Public Health working with the Families Information Service and the Early Years Team have developed such systems to aid our ability to understand the changing level of disease and respond quickly to protect the population- and so we are asking you to notify us of communicable diseases, such are coronavirus, influenza and others; full list here.
The below link is a form which enables us to capture information from you about the case, their contacts and risk assess the situation. Public Health colleagues and the Early Years Team, working together where needed, will then be able to offer the advice and support to you and the family.

The link is live, and we ask please that all childcare settings report cases via this.
If you require further general advice or a call-back, please contact our colleagues through the Education Public Health Officers via email cfsinfo@eastriding.gov.uk.
As we continue to evolve our systems, we are in the process of developing a new, shorter, and more concise form for providers to complete in the near future. However, in the meantime, we still ask that all cases are reported using the current format. This is not just to fulfil your legal obligation to report notifiable diseases, but also allows the Public Health Team to have a holistic view of all outbreaks across a geographical area as well as to provide the support you may need in managing such outbreaks.
HERE For Schools
Each setting (including Childminders) should have received a login at the start of September to HERE For Schools. We have also sent out reminders in the last two weeks to any setting who have not yet signed up. Please take the opportunity to take a look at HERE For Schools as it is a one-stop-shop for your public heath educational resources for infectious and notifiable diseases.
You will find: ERYC guidance; CPD training; useful weblinks; Early Years Teaching Resources; Parental and staff letters for outbreaks and infection prevention control advice for educational settings. We would welcome your feedback on the portal so that we can continually develop it to meet your needs via cfsinfo@eastriding.gov.uk.
'HERE for Schools requires all users requesting a user account to first have a customer account set up for the organisation they work for. Once an account for the organisation is set up, we can then set up individual user accounts which will enable you to login to HERE for Schools and navigate through the system depending on your access rights.
If you have not yet received your login, please e-mail hereforschools@eastriding.gov.uk
Please contact the helpline (01482) 392419 between the hours of 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday and/or email cfsinfo@eastriding.gov.uk for any advice and support. In an emergency, please contact the UKHSA Health Protection Team (0151) 9091219 outside these hours.
