East Riding County Choir
East Riding County Choir perform at Bridlington Priory and Beverley Minster this season
East Riding County Choir (ERCC) was founded in 1957 and was initially run by the old East Riding council – hence the name. Peter Hunt, Treasurer of ERCC, tells us more...
“With the advent of Humberside in the early 1980s the Choir became independent, but still enjoys some support from today’s East Riding of Yorkshire Council. We are grateful for the East Riding Arts Grant and are pleased to be able to display the ERYC logo on our publicity material.
“A traditional choral society, East Riding County Choir performs major works from the classical repertoire, with professional orchestra and soloists, twice each year in Beverley Minster. As with most arts organisations, ERCC is still rebuilding its audiences back to pre-COVID levels following the 18-month gap in activities. The Choir is very keen to recruit new members, as membership also fell over that period.
“Regular choral singing at our rehearsals benefits our members’ physical and mental health, as well as providing an opportunity to socialise. Local musicians also benefit from the opportunity to perform with the Choir. Our concerts are enjoyed by audiences from across the East Riding and are long-established contributors to the area’s classical music culture.”
Next month, the Choir will perform at Bridlington Priory on Saturday 02 December and at Beverley Minster on Saturday 16 December. See below for more information and to book tickets.
If you are would like to know more about East Riding County Choir’s performances, and about joining the Choir, visit the Choir's website.
