We have now held a briefing for all group managers, directors and executive directors.
The next step is for us to quality check the information we hold and prepare your individual illustrations, which will show you your current pay and reward and how these would be different under the new proposals.
This will be posted to your home address. Please ensure your address and personal information is up to date on iTrent. Following this the recognised trade unions will hold their ballots.
More detailed information about your illustration will be in The Loop on Tuesday, 17 October.

![Cllr Wilkinson](https://content.govdelivery.com/attachments/fancy_images/UKERYC/2023/09/8225925/4975209/cllr-wilkinson_crop.jpg) Budget update
Yesterday our cabinet approved the use of £4.7million of reserves in order to half our projected overspend at the end of 2023/24 financial year.
This follows the announcement that we are putting measures in place to help reduce spending to help balance the budget, including tighter control of recruitment and only business critical spending.
Councillor Nigel Wilkinson, portfolio holder for finance said: “Most councils across the country are in the same position, in that demands in adult social care and children’s services are greater than the funding provided by Government for these services.
“In taking these steps now, we are being careful and planning ahead to ensure that the budget is managed and can be balanced at the end of this financial year.”

As you may know plans are being drawn up for us to enter into a level three devolution mayoral deal with Hull City Council.
While plans are still in the early stages we know that there are a lot of questions around this, what it will mean, what the timeframe is, what a deal will look like and how it will impact us and our services.
We recently invited staff to a webinar where we gave a brief overview of the current position on devolution and answered any questions.

![Design Code graphic](https://content.govdelivery.com/attachments/fancy_images/UKERYC/2023/09/8223954/design-code-new_original.jpg) Have your say on new design code for the East Riding
People in the East Riding of Yorkshire are being invited to have a say on a new design code that will help shape the way their neighbourhoods look in the future.
We held a public survey in March 2022, encouraging people to share what was important to them in terms of design and where they live. That survey received more than 1,600 responses.
We created a draft design code for the East Riding, and residents are invited to give their feedback as part of a formal public consultation, which will run until Sunday, 22 October.

We are proposing to construct a new Household Recycling Centre (HRC) in Beverley to serve the town and surrounding villages.
This will allow residents to dispose of unwanted household or general items so they can be recycled and reused.
The new site will replace the existing household waste recycling site at Weel, which is becoming no longer fit for purpose.
The proposed scheme is to build a larger, more modern recycling centre on Ings Road, off Grange Way, Beverley.

The web team recently migrated all websites maintained in-house onto a platform called Joomla and this included the intranet. The intranet was one of the most complex migration projects and resulted in a major overhaul of the entire website.
Due to the time pressures associated with the migration, what was launched in July was only the core of the website.
A roadmap showing the remaining migration work and when content will be migrated has been developed and can be viewed by visiting the intranet migration page.

The forum explored the benefits of having a diverse workforce and discussed ways we can support staff who have a disability and those who develop a disability during their employment.
Seven speakers attended the event, sharing their thoughts and views with staff. The forum also featured a myth-busting animation, which was put together with help from the Disabled Support Network.

East Riding of Yorkshire residents turned out in force as the county hosted an entire stage of the Tour of Britain recently.
Without our wonderful staff, hosting this leg of the race wouldn’t have been possible.
From installing crowd barriers and managing road closures to litter-picking and arranging interviews with press, a lot of work took place behind the scenes.
We want to say a huge thank you to all staff who were involved in the event and helped make the day a success.

Your health is for life
Ahead of National Fitness Day, we caught up with Emma Ringe, a class instructor at East Riding Leisure Beverley.
For Emma, fitness is everything.
“I try to work out six times a week, but I wasn’t always a fitness enthusiast,” says Emma.
After attending a few classes at her local leisure centre as a teenager, Emma was soon hooked.
“I first joined the gym aged 17 in a bid to lose weight - now I’m a qualified instructor! I couldn’t imagine my life any other way.
“I love that I can help play a part in other people’s fitness journeys. Being able to inspire and motivate others is like therapy for me."
