Don’t forget to complete the Blended Working Survey
Our Blended Working Survey launched on 20 June and we’ve had a great response so far, so thank you to everyone who has completed it.
However, we’re keen to hear from as many of you as possible, so please take the time to take part in the survey if you haven’t already done so.
If you started the survey but then put it on hold, to come back to later, please remember to complete and submit your responses.
There are currently about 350 partial responses, so it’s important they are completed and your contributions are received.
Remember, it’s your chance to tell us about any benefits and drawbacks of blended working. You can tell us about any issues, provide examples of positive and negative impacts, and make suggestions.
Your responses will help us to assess the impacts of blended working across a range of themes and to consider ways to keep improving our flexible working offer.
The survey is due to close on Friday, 21 July.

Upcoming changes to the job advert process
As a part of the iTrent Development Project, a new job advert process has been designed within the iTrent system. This change in process will help to provide recruiting managers with greater visibility of the advert process through the use of iTrent MSS Recruitment.
From early autumn 2023, Job Advert forms must be completed through iTrent MSS Recruitment by the recruiting manager.
Submitted adverts will then be processed by the recruitment team before being published onto the East Riding Jobs Website.
The reasons for implementing this change are as follows:
-
To give recruiting managers greater visibility of the advert process through iTrent MSS Recruitment.
-
Utilising iTrent functionality to generate automatic email notifications when adverts have been submitted and published, ultimately improving the communications provided to recruiting managers.
-
To provide a digital platform to streamline the job advert process.
For more information on the upcoming changes to the job advert process, please visit our information page or watch our animation video.

OneDrive and MS Teams training for your team
Do you know what Microsoft OneDrive is? Could it help you to work more effectively?
Most of us are now using Microsoft Teams every day, for meetings and chat. But do you know about the other things Teams can help you with?
The corporate delivery team can arrange to meet with you and your team (virtually or in person) to offer training that covers the fundamentals you need to get started with OneDrive or Teams, to more advanced tools that could change the way we work altogether.
If you would like to book some training sessions for your team, email ERYC training support.

 Cross-organisational projects needed
The corporate delivery team require collaborative projects for the Leadership in Practice programme.
Sponsored by a group or service level manager, projects would offer leadership delegates the chance to work across the organisation, to conduct extensive research on operational activities and report on their findings.
This is an opportunity to create extended networks for your teams, and to invite aspiring leaders to work with you in finding innovative solutions to operational questions.
If you would like to propose a project, please contact Lucy Jackson, Principal Learning and Skills Officer for further details.

 P11Ds now issued
The P11D forms have now been sent out ahead of the deadline of 6 July 2023.
Form P11D is used to notify HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and the employee about any expenses and benefits provided throughout the tax year. These expenses and benefits include things such as business mileage and company (lease) cars.
Please note, mileage rates paid by the council were temporarily increased from 1 September 2022. If an employee has used their private car for business journeys, they will have been paid 55p per mile from that date for standard journeys. The HMRC approved rate is 45p per mile and, as such, anything paid above 45p per mile is a taxable benefit, so needs to be reported on form P11D, then taxed. HMRC will collect any tax due by adjusting the employees tax code.
Where a taxable benefit has been reported on form P11D, the figure at the bottom of the form is the amount tax is due on, rather than the amount of tax due.
If there is a minus (-) figure in box 12 Section E - Mileage Allowance, then the employee may be able to claim some tax relief/refund. A minus figure may occur where an employee has been paid less for mileage than HMRC would allow. This could happen if an employee has been paid at the lower training mileage rate, or has travelled some business miles that have not been paid, for example (i.e where home to base mileage has been deducted). In this case, the employee will need to contact HMRC directly to reclaim any eligible tax relief/refund. This can be done either through self-assessment or online by creating a Personal Tax Account.
To make a claim, the employee will need to know the miles travelled and amount reimbursed for that travel by the council for the relevant tax year. If employees do not have their own record of these details, they can request them by sending an email to expenses. The email should include their full name and payroll number or National Insurance number.

 HAF summer holidays launch
The 2023 summer holiday activities and food programme has now launched. The scheme offers fun activities to children and young people in receipt of benefits-related free school meals.
All HAF sessions are free, last at least four hours and include a meal for each child who goes to school in the East Riding. There are lots of activities to choose from, including wellbeing activities, sport, play and dance camps, football sessions, outdoor adventure, excursions and SEND-specific activities, such as team challenges and get glowing events.
There can be greater holiday pressures for children and young people from low-income families at this time, and professionals are encouraged to signpost families to HAF, where they have access to more than 40 organisations who are delivering fun programmes throughout the summer holidays.
To find out specifically what is happening in a certain areas in the county, please message the HAF team.
