Ensemble 360 performs at Junction Goole this month

Welcome to the November 2022 edition of the East Riding Arts Newsletter.

This month we head to the coast, as the ArtWaves Festival returns to Bridlington with a vibrant mix of exhibitions, workshops and installations. We also look forward to Platform – an exciting evening of dance performance at Bridlington Spa as our East Riding Youth Dance groups take to the stage to showcase their term’s work, alongside performances from Kings Mill School and Riverside Special School. A vibrant celebration awaits on Sunday 27 November! And staying in Bridlington, in our Grant Spotlight this month we speak to The Den – an inclusive youth theatre in Bridlington. Read more about their inspirational work below.

Inland, Junction’s inaugural Classical Music Series kicks off with a performance by Ensemble 360 – an exhilarating evening of beautiful music in Goole to mark the 150th birthday of English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams. Don’t miss his most famous work, The Lark Ascending, in its original version for piano and violin.

In another debut, Remarkable Arts perform at St Mary’s Church in Beverley, following a visit to Bridlington’s Priory Church. Choir leader Mark Howley tells us, “This is our first performance at St Mary's and we're all really excited to perform in such a beautiful venue. I know the harmonies will sound so rich in this grand old church, and we hope to create an energetic atmosphere for our audience – come along and have some fun with us!

And looking a little further ahead, firm favourite Richard Durrant returns to Beverley in December with his ever-popular Candlelit Christmas Concert at Toll Gavel United Church.

For our industry colleagues, the 2023/24 round of the East Riding Arts Grants opens for applications on 01 December. The deadline for applications is 01 March 2023. A fact sheet with more information, including eligibility criteria, the types of grants available and how applications are assessed, can be downloaded at the link below – see East Riding Arts Grants 2023/24.
