FASP Update
We are pleased to be able to share that applications for the Freedom Activity Support Payment (FASP) are now open.
We have completed development of our new online application form and this can be accessed below. For parents and carers who need support with the online application, the 0-25 SEND Team will be here via phone or email to provide assistance.
As previously shared, one major change with regards to this year’s FASP, as well as moving from a paper application process to a digital one, is that the entire FASP will be paid as one payment of £300 (or pro-rata if a young person turns 7 or 18 within the qualifying year). We are confident that this will enable us to run a streamlined service. This is a slight reduction from previous years and reflects the increasing popularity of the FASP and the growing numbers of successful applicants.
We want the FASP to be able to reach as many eligible children and young people as possible, and making this decision enables us to continue to provide this payment without having to add an additional limit on applicants. Applicants will still be asked to provide their feedback as part of our monitoring of payments but this will be done via a survey as opposed to a paper form, and this will be shared directly with all successful applicants later in the year.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered eligible for the FASP in 2022, you must evidence that you and your child or young person meet the following criteria:
- Has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
- Resides in the East Riding of Yorkshire

- Is registered with Look Ahead, you can register on our look ahead page
- Does not receive a direct payment, commissioned short break or overnight short break, including a stay in the residence, provided for by East Riding of Yorkshire Council
- The request must detail appropriate ways that this funding will be used to support access to social and leisure opportunities.
*Should your child turn 18 before the 31st March 2023 they will only receive a part payment based on the child’s date of birth.
*Should your child turn 7 after the 1st April 2022 but before the 31st March 2023, they will only receive a part payment based on the child’s date of birth (pro-rata from the date that they turned 7).
Below, you will find a guidance document for completing the FASP and an FAQ that answers some key questions.
Applications will be open until Friday 25th August 2022.
If you require any additional support, please contact the team on 01482 394000 (option 6) or via email at fasp@eastriding.gov.ukand a team member will be in touch with you in due course.
