SPOTLIGHT ON...
FASP Update - 23rd May 2022
We are pleased to be able to share that applications for the Freedom Activity Support Payment (FASP) will be open in the near future.
We are currently working very hard with our IT team to develop a new online form for FASP applications. We have been trialing the new FASP application system and we are really excited that this will make the process much easier and clearer for parents and carers and ensure that families who are entitled to receive the FASP are able to do so in a timely manner.
We are looking to go live with the new application form within the next 2-3 weeks. For parents and carers who need support with the online application, the 0-25 SEND Team will be here via phone or email to provide assistance.
One other major change with regards to this year’s FASP, as well as moving from a paper application process to a digital one, is that the entire FASP will be paid as one payment of £300 (or pro-rata if a young person turns 18 within the qualifying year). We are confident that this will enable us to run a streamlined service. This is a slight reduction from previous years and reflects the increasing popularity of the FASP and the growing numbers of successful applicants. We want the FASP to be able to reach as many eligible children and young people as possible, and making this decision enables us to continue to provide this payment without having to add an additional limit on applicants. Applicants will still be asked to provide their feedback as part of our monitoring payment but this will be done via a survey as opposed to a paper form, and this will be shared directly with all successful applicants later in the year.
Please keep checking the Local Offer for updates, and make sure that you are registered with LOOK AHEAD so that you do not miss any important news relating to the 2022 FASP.
Thank you.

EYPCF Virtual session - SEND Review: Green Paper
The EYPCF are holding a 2nd virtual evening session on the SEND Review: Green Paper on Wednesday 8th June 7-9 pm. Following feedback, we have elected to do this session virtually rather than face-to-face to enable as many parent/carers to attend as possible contributing to discussion and collective feedback.
We will be providing parent/carers with information on the key points in the Green Paper and an update on feedback and responses so far from parent/carers and other organisations.
Parent/carer responses to the Green Paper are vital for setting future direction of SEND Services.
For a link to join this session please email admin@eypcf.co.uk.
As always to contact the PCF please contact Trudy Cooper – EYPCF Participation Coordinator via email admin@eypcf.co.uk or call 07813 676941.

Expression of Interest for parents and carers
Would you like to be involved in one or more subgroups of the East Riding of Yorkshire SEND Development and Improvement Board or the Board itself?
East Yorkshire Parent Carer Forum has two seats on the subgroups which form part of the SEND Development and Improvement 10 point plan, however we would like to extend this membership to any parent carer who would like to join us to increase participation and allow more parent carers to have a voice. You may also wish to express an interest to join the SEND Development and Improvement Board.
Please use the form below to submit an Expression of Interest in one of the subgroups (and or Board) which sits as part of the SEND Development and Improvement Plan. Before completing this form you may find it helpful to read the associated information about each group as well as the overarching plan.

- We offer a relaxed, respectful environment.
- We are currently reviewing the parent carer survey and will be looking at the co-production charter amongst many other ongoing pieces of work.
If you are interested in joining us, or have any questions about the group, please contact Adele Simpson (SEND Communication and Partnership Manager) adele.simpson@eastriding.gov.uk, (01482) 394000.

Fostering - Could you or anyone you know help Alex?
"Hi my name is Alex. I am four years old and I need a very special foster family. I have quite a lot of needs so I need a foster family who will be able to give me lots of support. I can’t see very well so I enjoy being near to people, especially when they sing or give me a cuddle and I enjoy being taken for walks in my wheelchair".
Alex has a happy gentle nature. He is in a good routine and sleeps through the night. Alex enjoys activities that keep him interested, especially lights and sensory toys. He needs support with all his needs, which are complex and he needs special seating and equipment which may require some home adaptations.
Equipment, enhanced payments and short breaks will be available for the right foster family. If you are interested in finding out more about becoming a carer for Alex we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch with East Riding Fostering team, email: fostering@eastriding.gov.uk or tel (01482) 396673 or message us on Facebook.
PLEASE NOTE: name and picture have been changed to protect Alex's identity.

Summer HAF grant
The aims of the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) summer grant is to provide free opportunities for children and young people eligible for free-school meals to enjoy a range of fun face-to-face activities during the summer holidays. We are looking for constituted groups, charities, schools, Town and Parish Councils, faith groups and businesses across the East Riding who would like to provide a meal and deliver activities for children and young people aged 5-16 years, and/or sessions for the whole family to enjoy.
Providers will be asked to fill in a short expression of interest form to identify eligibility followed by an application form. Whilst it is hoped that providers can deliver 4-hour sessions over 16 days during the summer, applications will be considered offering shorter or longer programmes. Consideration will also be given to targeted groups who may find these sessions too long. Those organisations who work in partnership with others to meet these expectations will be considered more favourable when assessed at panel, as will providing a hot meal for families and where extra support is given to improve children's/families understanding of health, nutrition or offer signposting information.
The HAF fund can part-fund programmes for all children or fully-fund those solely for participants eligible for free-school meals. A proportion of the funding will also support SEND, young carers, rising 5's and those who live in the top 20% of deprived areas in the East Riding - Beverley, Bridlington, Driffield, Goole or Withernsea.
Organisations can apply up to £40,000, with the funding contributing towards staffing, equipment, venue, training, food, marketing, capital costs, transport, and volunteer expenses.
Extra free support is available this year from Barnardo's to help HAF organisations be more inclusive. This includes supporting children and young people with their mental health to get back into activities or those with SEND who are struggling to access mainstream provision.
With the rise of food poverty, living and fuel costs, HAF enables families to enjoy a healthy meal and enriching sport, play, art, music, drama, outdoor adventure and cultural activities on their doorsteps and hope families can continue to work with the provider to access support and activities throughout the year. Good luck in becoming a HAF provider.
The deadline for the expression of interest form is Tuesday, 28 June and the application form is Monday, 4 July 2022 at noon. To apply, please visit our Flexigrant website.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council Flexigrant website
For more information about HAF, please contact Vicky Jude, HAF Commissioning and Quality Monitoring Officer at vicky.jude@eastriding.gov.uk
