Welcome to this special edition of the East Riding Archives e-newsletter where we are marking the historic milestone of our Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
Queen Elizabeth II is the first monarch in British history to reign for 70 years. Previously in 1897, Queen Victoria was the only other British monarch to reach 60 years, the Diamond Jubilee milestone, whilst George III was the first to reign 50 years in 1809.
Come along to the Treasure House to see our jubilant displays. Please note our opening hours this week are:

Royal celebrations in the archives
Come and see our jubilant display showcasing a selection of coronations, royal visits and jubilees as seen in our collections.
Our free display is in the entrance to the Archives Research Room and along the corridor windows. Available until 31st August 2022.
Royal event memorabilia on display in the Treasure House Museum
East Riding Museums has a special display of objects that mark and celebrate Royal coronations and jubilees, weddings and royal family visits to the East Riding of Yorkshire.
Among the items on display are a variety of commemorative items and medals, in addition to buses, programs, and commemorative silverware. From Queen Victoria to Queen Elizabeth II, you can find items on display covering a whole range of monarchy reigns.
 James Burns, Customer Service Assistant said:
‘I’ve loved the opportunity to use my creativity putting together this great display of museum objects honouring the Queen’s Jubilee. I hope the public who visit the Treasure House will enjoy and engage with this celebration of royal anniversaries.’
The display will be on view in Gallery One of the Treasure House until 31st August 2022.
Opening times*: Monday to Friday 9.30am – 5pm, Saturday 9.30am – 4.00pm
Open until 8pm on Tuesday and Thursday every week.
*please note we are closed Thursday 2nd June and Friday 3rd June.
