East Yorkshire Parent Carer Forum (EYPCF)

PCF planned sessions for the New Year

After Christmas catch up – Monday, 10 January – 10:00 – 12:00 (virtual) - A quick note to inform you that the pop in coffee session arranged for Tuesday 11 January in Bridlington has had to be postponed and will be scheduled for a later date. This decision has been made due to the recent increase of COVID cases and to ensure that we all stay as safe and well as possible.

As an alternative we have arranged a virtual catch up on Monday,10 January 10-12 noon. This will be for the purpose of sharing our Christmas break experiences, good and bad, and to feedback any issues/concerns that may be raised to the relevant areas.

Roles and Responsibilities of a Governing Body – Thursday, 13 January – 10:00 – 12:00 noon (Virtual) - The PCF have received feedback from parent/carers wanting more information on the roles and responsibilities of a governing body within education settings. We have been in contact with Lisa Devine, the School Governance and CPD Manager, who is happy to attend this scheduled session and answer any questions.

Castaway Music Theatre

Weekly youth drama, film and music with skilled support for additional needs.

Castaway Youth Theatre - for ages 8-18 who love singing, dancing, drama and musical theatre. It’s a great way to make friends, have fun, achieve in a group and be in or help make a film or a show.

Date: Saturdays

Time: 1-3pm

Venue: Castaway Goole DN14 5AS

Cost: £4 per session (supported by BBC Children in Need)

Music Transitions: Sloop Music - for ages 14 -25, focusing on composition, playing music together and learning new instruments / technology (you don’t have to be able to play an instrument already). Everyone is welcome – come and meet us.

Cost: £4 per session (supported by Youth Music through National Lottery)

Castaway Creative Transitions - For 16 - 25’s who are looking for opportunities to develop their arts skills, experience and talents. This initiative offers creative routes through education, employability and work experience into adulthood, combining opportunities to be creative, learn new skills, have fun, and be part of a group who make and perform together. Autism Seminar – Managing Anger

We will be running Managing Anger Seminars at:-

County Hall, room 1 on Thursday 3rd February 2022 -10.00-12.30

Bridlington North Library on Thursday 10th February 2022 – 10.00-12.30

Goole Council Chambers on Thursday 3rd March 2022 – 10.00-12.30

The sessions are open to parents/carers and practitioners who would like to know more about Managing Anger, including:

To a get a better understanding of how we react to anger?
To gain information about using a low arousal approach.
Practical ideas to manage anger, anxiety, distressed behaviours and meltdowns.

The Seminar will run from 10am to 12.30pm. Please arrive no more than 10 minutes before the start of the session. Drinks are not provided.

Please provide your own pens and paper if you would like to take notes. Booklets to accompany the session are available from https://www.autism.org.uk/ should you wish to have one to refer to during the seminar (this is optional).

As the room will be well ventilated, please bring warm clothing.

Sensory and Physical Teaching Service virtual course

For parents/carers who have children with motor skill or coordination difficulties - Supporting Children with Motor Coordination Difficulties. This course is aimed at parents/carers who have children with motor skill or coordination difficulties.

Aims of the course:

Understand more about the challenges your child may face.
Have some practical strategies to help.
See a range of useful resources.

Date: Tuesday, 15 February 2022.

Time: 10am—12noon
