Provider Support, Quality Improvement and Oranisational Safeguarding Procedure
|
The new Provider Support, Quality Improvement and Organisational Safeguarding Procedure reflects the focus of an end to end process covering early detection, quality intervention and prevention, management of organisational safeguarding concerns, decommissioning and care home closure. It includes the process to be followed when safeguarding requires a large scale enquiry. The procedure will go live in January 2022. Training on the new Procedure is now available (see below) and the procedure can be found by clicking here
The Herbert Protocol
Do you have a friend or relative who is elderly, suffers with dementia or has other mental health issues which can leave them confused, lost or disorientated?
Often missing people head for locations or try to find people who mean a lot to them, so having details of these people and places written down in case of an emergency can really help Humberside Police to speed up their serach.
Humberside Police have adopted the Herbert Protocol, a national scheme which encourages carers, families, friends or neighbours, to print out and fill in a form with as much detail as possible, then keep it somewhere safe - along with a recent photo. Click here for leaflet.

Safeguarding Week 15 - 21 November
Creating Safer Cultures - Safeguarding Adults Week 15-21 November
Safeguarding Adults Week is a national event and takes place from 15-21 November and gives an opportunity for organisations to come together to raise awareness of important safeguarding issues.
This year’s theme is ‘Creating Safer Cultures’ and each day of the national week there will be a different topic to focus on which will hopefully lead to conversations taking place around the theme of creating safer cultures within the East Riding. For more information about the different themes please visit anncrafttrust.org/events
Promoting safer cultures is all about how organisations and individuals can take steps to minimise harm occurring in the first instance, whilst simultaneously ensuring correct policies and procedures are in place so that safeguarding concerns that are raised are recognised and responded to effectively.
ERSAB are working with Hull Safeguarding Adults Board to put on several workshops on topics such as Suicide Prevention, Hoarding, Modern Slavery, Fraud Prevention, Professional Curiosity, Care Standards and much more. Please look out for the Eventbrite listings on our website by clicking the link here national-safeguarding-adults-week-2021 and take part in our social media campaign on Facebook. #SafeguardingAdultsWeek
The Public Health Community bus will also be visiting towns within the East Riding with Safeguarding experts available to talk about safeguarding issues and have leaflets available regarding support available. The locations of the bus will be promoted on our website nearer to the time by clicking the link here national-safeguarding-adults-week-2021
The national week can be used to identify key safeguarding issues and share these with people they support, run an event or training session to get up to date on the latest safeguarding news and updates, understand their responsibilities in safeguarding adults at risk and take time out to assess their policies and practices.
For more information or to find out how to get involved email Catherine.law@eastriding.gov.uk call (01482) 392091 or visit anncrafttrust.org/events or www.ersab.org.uk
