Funding Calls

Funding for interdisciplinary research to secure better health and wellbeing for individuals as they age

There is a UKRI-wide call for funding to develop interdisciplinary research to secure better health and wellbeing for individuals as they age. Projects should sit at the interface of council remits and draw on interdisciplinary teams to develop proof of concept. We are looking for research that links understanding of ageing pathways with wider determinants of health.

If you have any questions about the call, please email: ageing@mrc.ukri.org

Pre-announcement: population health improvement network of clusters

Apply for funding to lead a population health improvement research cluster. Up to seven research clusters will be funded, each addressing a separate yet complementary challenge. Together they will form an interdisciplinary network, which will generate research to improve the health of communities across the UK, reduce health inequalities, and develop and evaluate effective, long-lasting and environmentally sustainable interventions.

First N-CODE stakeholder-led study group: 20 to 24 March 2023

N-CODE is an EPSRC-funded Network+ that aims to develop neurotechnologies to shift emphasis of diagnosis and management of neurological conditions from the hospital environment into the community.

N-CODE is inviting applications for attendees to its first study group in March 2023. The event will be held near Newquay in Cornwall from 20 to 24 March 2023 and researchers from a broad range of backgrounds are invited to work collaboratively on co-developing solutions to a range of exciting clinical and societal challenges of unmet need in a ‘hackathon’ style study group.

They expect the innovative solutions to be digital or other home-based neurotechnologies using approaches built around neural interfacing, signal processing, machine learning and mathematical modelling as enabling technologies.

For more information and to apply to attend, please visit the N-CODE website.

UKRI interdisciplinary pilot

This is a new scheme that UKRI is piloting over 2 rounds of funding.

The pilot will support breakthrough or disruptive interdisciplinary ideas not routinely funded through existing UKRI responsive mode schemes. It is for ideas emerging from the research community outside current disciplinary boundaries.

Awards will be potentially transformative for the participating disciplines or lead to the creation of new disciplines.
