PETRAS announces 7 new research projects

The PETRAS National Centre of Excellence announced seven new research projects that explore cybersecurity of devices and networks at the edge of the internet. The projects were funded from PETRAS’ first Strategic Research Fund, as part of the Security of Digital Technology at the Periphery (SDTaP) Strategic Priorities Fund being delivered by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). The national call was launched in June 2019 and was open to UK Higher Education Institutions.

Not-Equal Network Plus Collaborations Call

The EPSRC funded Social Justice through the Digital Economy Network Plus, otherwise known as Not-Equal is pleased to announce their 2nd call for Collaborative Proposals. The deadline for applications is 17:00 on 30 April 2020.

Demonstrators addressing cyber security challenges in the Internet of Things: round 2

Innovate UK is to invest up to £4 million in collaborative, business led research and development (R&D) demonstrators as part of the Strategic Priorities Fund Investment ‘Ensuring the Security of Digital Technologies at the Periphery (SDTaP)’. The aim of this competition is to solve industry-focused major cyber security-related challenges in the Internet of Things (IoT). Closing date 12:00 on 15 April 2020.

Call for Participants in a three-day Sandpit focused on Digital Technologies for Health and Care

UKRI are pleased to invite participants to apply to attend a 3-day sandpit on Digital Technologies for Health and Care (30th June – 2nd July 2020). The theme for this sandpit is novel digital technologies for improved self-monitoring and health management. Successful projects from the sandpit should either have a new approach to self-monitoring of conditions (especially conditions which are harder to manage and where there are fewer tools available for interventions) or that seek to identify novel digital technologies that will ultimately enable the public to better manage their health in their own homes and in the community. Closing date for Expressions of Interest 4 May 2020.

Motion Capture Tech CAMERA

Motion capture technology used to prevent falls in older people

The EPSRC and AHRC Digital Economy funded Centre for the Analysis of Motion, Entertainment Research & Applications (CAMERA), based at the University of Bath has recently received press coverage. Volunteers in their seventies have donned motion capture suits for a study using Hollywood technology to assess the benefits of an exercise programme designed to reduce the risk of falls in older people.

The fifth International Data for Policy Conference will take place in London on September 15-16, 2020 (Pre-conference workshops on September 14).
