Diagnosed as deaf at the age of six, Raymond explores themes of sound, identity and belonging in 'The Quiet Ear' offering a moving perspective on creativity, resilience and inclusion
 Waste collection update
We’re sorry that some of you are continuing to experience delays to your waste collections at the moment.
The disruption has been caused by a number of factors, including our crews having to travel much further to where we can take and process waste, vehicle availability, the recent extreme heat and staffing issues.
We are working with our waste contractor and Surrey County Council to improve the service as quickly as possible. This includes bringing in additional crews and vehicles and using closer tipping sites to reduce journey times.
If your bin hasn’t been collected, please leave it out, including over the weekend, and crews will return as soon as they can.
 Planning for your future awareness day 2026
Unlike NHS healthcare, social care isn’t free for most people. So whether it’s for us or an older loved one, having our finances in order is key to being ready for the future.
To help people prepare, Surrey County Council and Age UK Surrey are running a special, free, Finance and Legal event in Leatherhead on Tuesday 22 September at 1pm.
It'll explore issues around paying for care in later life, with presentations from experts from the Society of Later Life Advisers and the Association of Lifetime Lawyers.
They’ll cover topics including ways to finance any care, what to watch out for in private care contracts, LPA's, Deputyship and more.
 Elmbridge Mayor launches Elmbridge Together Fun Run to support local charities
Join the Elmbridge Together Fun Run this September and help raise money for two local charities, Elmbridge CAN and The Mayor of Elmbridge Trust Fund.
Hosted by the Mayor of Elmbridge, Councillor Judy Sarsby, the event will take place on Sunday 20 September 2026 at Elmbridge Xcel Sports Hub, Walton-on-Thames.
Residents of all ages and abilities are welcome to take part and support these important local causes.
 Parking refund scheme
Customers can now apply for a refund if they were incorrectly issued parking fines in some council car parks.
The issue affected car parks in Esher, Cobham, Hersham, Walton-on-Thames and Weybridge.
What you need to apply:
- your name and contact details
- your vehicle registration number
- proof that you paid the parking fine
- your bank details so we can pay your refund
Please apply for a refund for an incorrectly issued parking fine using the online form or if you cannot apply online, call us on 01372 474 474.
